The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Twitter, Acting President of the NUG wrote that Russian President Putin had been killing Ukraine people and the same was true for the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing with regards to Myanmar people.
  • According to the CEC of the National League for Democracy (NLD), up to 645 members, including Chair Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, have been arrested and the property of 155 members was sealed off by the military junta to date.
  • Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment announced the list of agents from whom bonds of the NUG could be bought in Australia.
  • In the 5th United Nations Conference on Countries with Least Development, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative U Kyaw Moe Tun called on the international community to provide assistance for the downfall of the military dictatorship and efforts to regain democracy as well as all-rounded development.
  • Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment announced the list of agents from whom bonds of the NUG could be bought in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
  • There was a meeting among Acting President of the NUG, Union Prime Minister and members of Central Committee on Investigating Military Crimes by the Ministry of Defence.
  • Daw Zin Mar Aung, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that the NUG had been making an effort to build diplomatic relations with China, a neighbouring super power, and as for China, they had been thinking about it with consideration.

Revolution Activities

  • According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Australian government issued visa of refuge to the CDM soldiers who have left the junta army in Myanmar.
  • In Hpakant with nearly 7 months of internet blackout, local people marched against the military dictatorship on Friday. They also expressed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • In Shweku Township of Kachin State, Myohla PDF attacked a motorboat with 40 junta soldiers at 4:00 am Friday. Reportedly, there may be casualties among junta soldiers.
  • On Friday, the French Embassy released a statement condemning the military junta for destroying graffiti or painting on the wall at Myaynigone Bridge in Sanchaung Township of Yangon Region, which had been allowed during the tenure of the NLD government.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, a combined force of PDFs conducted an attack with M79 40mm grenades at the Thaunggyi Police Station at 5:45 am Friday. Reportedly, there may be many casualties among members of the junta armed forces.
  • In Dagon Seikkum Township, Wai Phyo and his wife were killed in Ward (168) at about 6:00am Friday. Reportedly, the administrator said that he would take revenge for his people.
  • In Hmawbi Township, ACPLF attacked with two time bombs a convoy of military officers going to an umbrella-hoisting ceremony of the pagoda in Myaukchawgone Village at 11:00 am Wednesday.
  • In Yangon, the military junta painted over the graffiti at the Myaynigone Bridge in Sanchaung Township and Bargara Wall in Kyimyindine Township.
  • Reportedly, 3 members of the Burmese Students’ Union, who had been helping with letters to those with long imprisonment, were accused of supporting PDFs and charged with sections of the anti-terrorist law.
  • On Friday, the Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Kalay Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces set fire to Natchaung and Natmyaung villages on Tuesday. Reportedly, over 100 houses were burnt down.
  • In Dibeyin Township, the junta army was attacked with mines by local PDF on 12, 13 and 15 March. Reportedly, about 9 junta soldiers may have died.
  • As a 373-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • As a 404-day protest, Kalay people marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Friday morning.
  • In Wetlet Township, the junta armed forces raided Taunggone Village on Thursday night and set fire to 80 houses. Reportedly, an elderly person died in the arson.
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, a fully-armed policeman named Arkar Sein from Myaytaw Police Station joined the CDM. According to Yso ISA, he was awarded 30 lakh MMK and sent to a liberated area.
  • · In Kyauktu Township, 3 military trucks were attacked with mines by local PDF on Thursday afternoon. Reportedly, 8 junta soldiers died.
  • In Kawkarait Township of Karen State, local people marched on Friday, holding signs against the military dictatorship in Myanmar and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • KNU responded that the letter of objection by the junta minister of security and border affairs regarding closure of 4 schools in Pha-Ang Township under the control of the KNU Brigade (1) was not legal as the military junta was not an official government.
  • In Pha-Ang District under the control of the KNU, students who had passed Grade (12) and Grade (9) exams by Kawthulay government in 2020-21 academic year were awarded with certificates at No. (1) high school.
  • In Fruso Township of Karenni State, KNDF attacked the junta army regiment (531) and the junta police station on Friday morning. Reportedly, 4 members of the junta armed forces died and many others were injured.
  • According to Karenni People’s Embrace, they would gather CDM soldiers who had joined their force and fight against the military junta.

The Military Council

  • The junta minister of security and border affairs in Karen State sent a letter to KNU, objecting to their statement calling for cooperation with the public in a timely manner against the military junta.
  • At 19th meeting of ASEAN Commanders in Chief of Defence Services, the junta military officer Major General Mg Mg Aye said that ASEAN armies would need more cooperation for security in the region as there were ordinary and non-conventional challenges all around the world.
  • The military junta announced that in cooperation with Chinese CNBG, they would produce 10 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines per year in the country.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that responsible personnel were to give priority to the budget for the public good, rather than the administration budget.
  • On Friday, the junta investment commission approved of the sale of Telenor Myanmar to crony Thein Win Zaw and Investcom with relations with the military junta.

Summary on 18 March

  • The NUG has been preparing to speed up the revolution. On the other hand, they have been making an effort around the world for easy access to their bonds as a fund-raising activity.
  • In Sagaing, Karenni, Karen and Chin, there were heavy battles. Consequently, the number of IDPs was on the rise and they were in need of food. Therefore, it is necessary to provide assistance to them.
