The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In Waw Township of Bago Region, an alliance of Karen National Liberation Army and People’s Defence Force attacked junta soldiers on patrol in Oatpho Village. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.

· Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun stated that the military junta had not been in the position to stop violence. He also called on the international community to make decisions for the end of the military dictatorship and the revival of democracy in Myanmar in a timely manner.

· At 10:00 am Monday, there was a meeting (20/2023) between Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and Township People’s Administration Teams from Bago Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Yangon Region, Tanintharyi Region, Magwe Region and Mandalay Region.

· In Chin State, the team led by Deputy Minister of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management- NUG met with the revolution forces from frontline camps and local people.

· At 3:00 pm Monday, there was a meeting (41/2023) between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration Teams from Sagaing Region.

· On Monday evening, the delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG met with Jiri Oberfalzer, the Vice-Chair of Czech’s Upper House, and Pavel Fischer, the Chair of the Upper House’s Foreign, Defence and Security Council.

· In New York, United States, the team of Malaysian Permanent Representative to the United Nations met with responsible personnel of the NUG.

· According to the Ministry of Defence-NUG, 175 junta soldiers died in local battles in No. (1) Military Region comprising Sagaing, Magwe, Mandalay and Shan North in September.

Revolution Activities

· In Kalay Township of Sagaing Region, a rally of the Local General Strike marched in support of the people from Mung Lai Hkyet in Kachin State and against the military dictatorship.

· In Khin-U, the PDF attacked the junta soldiers in town. Reportedly, 3 junta members died and 2 MA1 guns were confiscated.

· In Wetlet Township, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army in Tainkan Village.

· In Ngazun Township of Mandalay Region, there was an attack on Myotha Police Station. Reportedly, 2 junta members including an officer died.

· In the western part of Sintku Township and the eastern part of Shwebo-Wetlet Area, the junta armed forces attacked locals for no apparent reason. Consequently, some people were injured.

· In Ngazun Township, there was a mine attack on a junta troop contingent. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta soldiers.

· The Amnesty International announced that the military junta had used an unguided bomb in the attack on the IDP Camp in Mung Lai Hkyet Village near Laiza on the China-Myanmar border.

· The leader of India for Myanmar Movement pointed out that despite their good intention for the peace process in Myanmar, India had been approaching the issue in the wrong way.

· On Monday morning, there were public campaigns against the junta’s attack on Mung Lai Hkyet at some places in Yangon.

· According to Urban Special Operation, a company official was seriously injured in the attack on Myanmar Beer Factory owned by the junta army. Reportedly, the explosion occurred at the warehouse of beer packages for delivery to the countryside, causing a great loss.

· In Kachin State, the junta armed forces constantly fired mortars, conducted aerial attacks and burnt local villages. Reportedly, there were casualties among civilians and some houses were damaged.

· In Bago Region, there was a mine attack on Yangon-Mandalay Railroad between Painzaloat Station and Nyaunglebin Station on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, both the rails were destroyed.

· Filippo Grandi, the current United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, called for efforts to gain peace in Myanmar so that Myanmar refugees could return home peacefully.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· All Burma Students' Democratic Front announced that they had dismissed the three members who had joined the junta’s event on the 8th anniversary of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement.

· In Kokang Area of Shan State, the MNDAA arrested a junta soldier carrying drugs.

The Military Council

· In Sintku Township and Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, the military junta has been demanding money from local gold miners.

· In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, a former member of the KNU/KNLA (PC) was shot dead in Fatkalait Village at 3:00 pm Sunday.

· On Monday evening, the junta army conducted an air strike using two fighter jets on Kansee Area under Kachin Independence Army Brigade (9) in Kachin State. Reportedly, there were casualties in the incident.

· The military junta announced that those working overseas could renew their passports only when they could show the recommendation for tax clearance.

· The junta Union Election Commission stated that some registered political parties were to open their branches as their allowance period of 180 days would be due in October.

· The junta Minister of Economics and Commerce urged traders to double their exports in the second half of the fiscal year to resolve the trade deficit.

· The delegation led by Major General Mya Tun Oo will join the Belt and Road forum in China.

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that they had been making an effort in accordance with their slogan - Keep Moving Forward To Achieve Our Goal - for peace, stability and development of the country.

· According to the junta Ministry of Construction, 80% of the project was completed for No. (3) Thanlyin Bridge connecting Thaketa Township and Thanlyin Township in Yangon Region.

Summary on 18 October

· In addition to their violence throughout the country, the junta army led by Min Aung Hlaing has been dealing drugs.

· Despite their violent activities, the military junta superficially said that they had been trying to obtain peace and stability for the country.
