Spring Revolution Daily News for 18 November 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • In Matupi Township of Chin State, the junta army dropped bombs via 2 fighter jets on the middle of Weilu Village without any battle. According to Ministry of Human Rights-NUG, 11 people including 8 children lost their lives in the incident. 
  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG stated that it was necessary for the public’s handbook to reach out extensively in the areas with high military momentum. 
  • Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG issued an order that non-CDM staff are to join the public as the last chance given by the NUG and otherwise, they will inevitably receive legal action. 
  • In Sagaing Region, Butalin Township People’s Administration provided support to the villages burnt by the junta army and the displaced people. 
  • In Madayar Township with battles and casualties among civilians, local PDF released 7 points for local people to follow. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Shwekyin Township of Bago Region, a combined force of KNLA and BPLA attacked and gained control of a camp of the junta army. 
  • The Executive Committee of National League for Democracy (NLD) expressed their honor to the activities of Sagaing Regional Hluttaw, Tanintharyi Regional Hluttaw and Magwe Regional Hluttaw. 
  • In Sagaing Township of Sagaing Region, PDF called on local residents near Minkun Police Station to move elsewhere before 19 November. 
  • In Kalay Township, Pyusawti members and their families from Mantar Village defected to 6 PDF forces of Gantgaw District. 
  • In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army shot dead 13 local people in a tea-shop in Aungkantha Village on Thursday. 
  • Regarding the genocide against Rohingya people and the legal proceedings of Gambia against Myanmar, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK (joint) and Maldives announced that they would negotiate on the side of Gambia under Section (63) of the law. 
  • On the border of Matupi Township and Paletwa Township of Chin State, the junta army conducted an aerial attack on Weilu Village. Reportedly, 11 people including 8 children lost their lives and 4 women were injured. 
  • In Karenni State, the junta army has been constantly carrying out air strikes on the town of Loikaw. According to the displaced people, they have had to go back as local residents of Taunggyi District do not accept them to take refuge. 
  • In the areas with powerful revolution, some banks have closed down. 
  • Between Muse and 105 Trade Zone in Northern Shan State, there was heavy fighting between the Three Brotherhood of Northern Alliance and the junta army on Friday morning. 
  • The spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry Mao Ning stated that they have provided care to Myanmar refugees who escape to China due to the battles in Shan North. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • In Northern Shan State, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) gained control of the junta’s Koattan Camp in Kokang Toneshan Area near Lauk Kaing on Thursday. 
  • On 14 November, 5 junta policemen based in Falam Township defected to Chin National Defence Force without weapons. 
  • The spokesperson of Karen National Union stated that the military junta with political and military chaos might have to face a more severe military wave in the very near future. 

The Military Council 

  • The junta propaganda leader Major General Zaw Min Tun stated on Thursday that they had to form defence teams comprising departmental staff in the areas without stability. 
  • The junta propaganda leader claimed that they had been carrying out activities to prevent some junta camps in the northeast of Shan State from drone attacks according to a changing military strategy. 
  • According to the military junta, fuel oil can be bought as much as needed since international ships carrying fuel oil has constantly arrived at the terminals in Thilawa Port in Yangon. 
  • The junta propaganda media stated that 3 out of 4 people warranted in Kokang had been arrested and transferred to China. 
  • According to the junta Central Bank, it is just a rumor on social media that the withdrawal of bank savings is being limited and that some private banks have given their staff salaries in advance. 
  • According to the junta Forestry Ministry, they have confiscated over 90,000 acres of private teak plantations allowed on the land owned by the forestry department. 

Summary on 18 November 

  • The junta Central Bank stated that the current news was just false news. However, the amount of withdrawal is limited at banks in reality. It highlights that the military junta has been telling lies to the public in various ways. 
  • Despite their chanting as ‘Standard Army’, the junta army is behind the times in reality. They still have been using outdated ideas and strategies. They have had a great loss and they have been disorganized when faced with the EAOs with equal capacity.
