Spring Revolution Daily News for 17 September 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • The Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG has been carrying out educational activities on reducing casualties among civilians and taking preventive measures against disasters. 
  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG stated that one of the strengths in the revolution has been the good use of technological advancement and that the revolution forces have been getting better in terms of conditions and time. He added that it is just necessary to be united in the march towards the destination. 
  • Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, a Union Minister of the NUG, met with the responsible personnel of Australian Parliament, Senators, the MPs, the leaders of political parties and social organizations. 
  • The End of Dictatorship under Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG got started with the project of Spring Pyin Oo Lwin Investment in Pyin Oo Lwin. 
  • At 1:00 pm Saturday, there was a meeting (24/2023) between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and the People’s Police Force. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Indaw Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing on Kayan Satgone Village on Friday night. Reportedly, a monk and a layman lost their lives. 
  • In Dibeyin, a combined force of local PDFs attacked the junta inspection gate on Friday and Saturday. Reportedly, 7 junta soldiers died and 6 guns were confiscated. 
  • In Myaung Township, there was a local battle between the junta army and PDFs. Reportedly, 9 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Dibeyin, there was an attack on the western gate on entrance to town. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers and Pyusawti members died. Additionally, 4 guns were confiscated. 
  • On Saturday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for U Kyaw Moe Tun to remain as Myanmar’s Ambassador to the United Nations. 
  • In Yesagyo Township and Myaung Township, a combined force of over 20 revolution forces attacked the junta armed forces. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta soldiers. 
  • On Saturday morning, young people in Yangon conducted a movement, calling on the 78th General Assembly of the UN to keep U Kyaw Moe Tun as Myanmar’s Ambassador. 
  • At 1:00 pm Friday, there was a bomb attack on the junta air force in Alar of Naypyidaw Union Territory. 
  • In Dawei Township of Tanintharyi Region, there was an attack on a car of junta soldiers near the GTC College. Reportedly, 10 junta soldiers died. 
  • On Saturday, Federation of General Workers in Myanmar conducted a movement for U Kyaw Moe Tun to remain Myanmar’s Ambassador to the UN. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • On Saturday, the fighting continued between the junta army and Ta’ang National Liberation Army. Reportedly, there were fatalities among junta soldiers. 
  • In Moemauk Township of Kachin State, Kachin Independence Army attacked and took control of a junta army camp on Saturday morning. 
  • In Thatone Township of Mon State, a mortar fired by the junta army fell and exploded in Painnedaw Ale Village. Reportedly, a child and a woman were injured. 
  • Saw Aung Maw A, the Chair of Hpa-Ang District Karen National Union, stated on Thursday that they would make an effort to seek a solution to the political problem in the political way for the interest of the public based on the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA). 
  • On the border of Thailand and Myanmar, a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army attacked and gained control of the junta’s Yedalyauk Camp. Reportedly, a large number of weapons were confiscated. 
  • In KyarIn Seikgyi Township of Kayin State, the combined force of the KNLA attacked Kwilonedie Camp and the junta troops. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties among junta soldiers. 
  • In Fruso Township of Karenni State, no less than 20 junta soldiers died in local battles and weapons were confiscated. 
  • In Loikaw Township of Karenni State, a soldier from the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (530) could no longer tolerate the oppression within the junta army and defected to the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force, along with weapons. 

The Military Council 

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing dismissed one of his confidants, Brid-Gen Moe Myint Tun, and placed him under house arrest. 
  • In Matupi Township of Chin State, the staff of the junta departments have had to wait daily for the arrival of Dr. Hmutan, a member of the military junta, and the junta Chief Minister of Chin State. 
  • The junta Union Election Commission (UEC) approved the registration of National Political New Strength Party. 
  • On Saturday, Dr. Hmutan, a member of the military junta, along with the junta Chief Minister of Chin State and the junta Regional Minister of Security and Border Affairs met with the departmental staff and the community leaders in Falam. 
  • Shwe Kyaing, a member of the military junta, went to Hopan Hospital in Wa Self-Administered Region and provided nutritious food to the patients. He also met with the public and local business people. 
  • Dr. Ba Shwe, a member of the military junta, met with local people for the development of Maungdaw District. He also inspected the rehabilitation activities in Yathaytaung Township. 

Summary on 17 September 

  • In the areas of the EAOs such as the KNU, TNLA, KIA, KNDF and KA, there have been ongoing battles. Reportedly, the military junta has had a great loss including their soldiers and weapons. They have also had to let go of one camp after another. 
  • Fighting for the public’s property for their self-interest, the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing has conducted arrests even among themselves.
