The Military Council

  • Dr. Aung Gyi, the junta deputy minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, said that it was necessary to enable stakeholders to gain access to modern technology and supplies related to livestock as well as to empower and conduct more research in the sector.
  • According to the junta media, U Aung Than Oo, the junta minister of Electricity and Energy, joined the ASEAN energy meeting and related ones.
  • Major General Tin Aung San, the junta minister of Transportation and Communication, said that implementations would be made to provide online services to the public.
  • Under the name of Deputy Major General Soe Htut - the junta minister of Home Affairs, a letter came out saying that over 40000 staff members of the General Administration Department would be transferred to the department under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • For the downfall of the military dictatorship and the emergence of a federal democratic union, Myanmar people in Thailand donated 320,000 Baht to Ministry of Labour-NUG. Reportedly, that fund was allocated and provided to local PDFs.
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs-NUG set up a delegation in South Korea, appointing U Yan Naing Tun as Representative to the Republic of Korea. Reportedly, diplomatic affairs will be carried out.
  • Ministry of Home Affairs-NUG announced that from 7th to 14th September, 146 people were unjustly arrested, 18 people were ruthlessly killed, 55 people were made labourers by force, 18 people got injured and 55 houses were burnt down.
  • CRPH called on UN agencies, international governments and regional bodies to carry out activities in any possible way as soon as possible for the protection and fulfillment of basic human rights.
  • CRPH announced their pledge that exercising the power granted by the public, they would try their best to regain democracy in Myanmar and put an end to the military dictatorship.

Revolution Activities

  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, the junta armed forces raided Ayechantha exemplary village on Tuesday. According to local residents, those soldiers shot at Ko Min Min or Ko Thet Naing Min, set fire to him, and burnt him to death.
  • In Myaing Township, Basic Education General Strike Committee, in cooperation with the public from south east zone, marched against the military watchdog on Thursday.
  • On Thursday, Pakkoku townspeople protested against the military watchdog.
  • In Sagaing Region, a rally of various villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched on Thursday for the revolution against the military dictatorship.
  • In Salingyi Township, Latbadaung Taung General Strike led a march against the military watchdog on Thursday.
  • In Kantbalu Township, Thayetkaung stream-crossing bridge was blown up between Tandabin and Nyaungzin villages at about 9:00 am Wednesday. Reportedly, a section of the Mandalay-Myitgyina railway was detached or damaged.
  • In Yinmabin Township, Sonechaung people marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • Kalay PDF announced that 3 junta soldiers died as they were attacked with mines amidst their mine-clearance activities in Kalay Township.
  • On Thursday, a rally of Kalay people protested against the military dictatorship.
  • On Thursday, there was a protest against the military watchdog in a village of Shwebo Township.
  • On Wednesday, local residents of 3 villages in Latbadaung area made a night strike of banging pots and pans to drive away the military watchdog.
  • On Thursday, Mandalay Monks’ Union marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • On Thursday afternoon, Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parittas for supporting the NUG and uprooting the military dictatorship.
  • On Thursday, Myataung rally expressed their objection to the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Myingyan District, the junta armed forces raided the villages after an internet blackout and conducted violence against the local residents.
  • In Mandalay, a rally of multi-religions took to the streets on Thursday and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Kamayut Township of Yangon Region, the junta armed forces raided Ward 3 and Ward 7 on Wednesday night. According to local residents, 11 people were arrested.
  • In Thanlyin Township, Ohn Lwin, junta-appointed administrator from Natcintayar, died of 4 gunshots at about 8:00 am Thursday.
  • On Thursday morning, Thaketa youth hung vinyls containing slogans - “All-participation for freedom from military slavery” and “the public are parents and thus, come and join us”.
  • In Latha Township, a young man was shot dead by the junta armed forces on 22nd street the previous day. According to local residents, no less than 7 people were arrested.
  • In Yangon, an explosion took place near the corner of Theinphyu road and Bogyoke road while a military truck and a police car got stuck in the traffic lights. Reportedly, Ranger Force carried it out.
  • People’s Soldiers, comprising CDM soldiers, made an official announcement that the junta army instructed their regiments to get ready for the attacks of PDFs and for female soldiers to attack with weapons.
  • Ba-Ka-Tha announced that Ko Oo Than Naing from Rakhine State Students’ Union, Ko Myat Soe from Kyaukphyu Education College and Ko Kaung Tun from Rakhine Students’ Union (Dagon University) were sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison on Thursday at the junta Sittway Township court.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, youth made a protest against the military watchdog on Thursday.
  • In Longlone Township, a combined rally of women, youth and students led a march against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In the eastern area of Dawei, there was a strike against the military watchdog at dawn Thursday.
  • In Dawei, urban guerrilla rally expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Thursday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Taungoo, B.E.H.S (1) Taungoo Students’ Union (Ba-Ka-Tha) distributed anti-junta brochures at crowded places and in some wards on Thursday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • Khine Thuka, spokesperson of AA, responded that it was just an exploitation of the military which told Muslim village administrators in Kyaukdaw Township not to accept the administration of AA.
  • On Wednesday, the first youth training was opened at Political Academy in UWSA. Present on the occasion were top officials of the area.
  • University Students’ Union (Ta-Ka-Tha) announced on Wednesday that the Students’ Army was established and they would participate in both forest and urban guerrilla attacks in accordance with warfare ethics.
  • On Thursday, Mon State Defence Force (MSDF) was established with ethnic people in Mon State to fight against the military junta.
  • On Thursday afternoon, the junta army heading to Tayone in trucks was attacked with mines by the KIA.
  • MSDF announced that they, in cooperation with Yay Township PDF, would fight against the military junta, in accordance with warfare ethics by the NUG.

Summary on 16th September

  • The military council faced a decrease in nearly half of the income with foreign currency. On the other hand, they had more expenditure. They said that the dollar price increased for such reason. They had also been trying to earn foreign currency with agricultural products. However, their expectation was not met due to the flow of goods interrupted by COVID-19. Imitating neighboring countries, they had been trying to make money out of tourism. Who would come and visit such a country with a bad reputation caused by the military coup and a lack of security guarantees?
  • The junta army wanted to get back their camp in Chin State. So, they sent a large number of armed forces. However, they couldn’t make it as they expected due to Sagaing PDFs. As they couldn’t fight against armed groups, they oppressed the civilians in the area. Like robbers, they arrested hostages if they couldn’t catch their wanted people.
  • Despite arrests and killings in Sagaing, Mandalay, Yangon, Magwe and Dawei, there were public protests every day without fail. New EAOs came out due to the military’s craving for power. Mon State Defence Force announced that they, in cooperation with PDFs, would fight against the military junta. As for Kachin State, they had frequent battles as the junta armed forces strengthened their warfare operation.
