The National Unity Government (NUG)

· Ministry of Economics and Commerce-NUG will conduct training on the Development Economics Program for the CDM students and the CDM staff on 21 and 22 October.

· At 10:00 am Saturday, there was a meeting (13/2023) between Union Minister of Judiciary Affairs-NUG and the judges from township courts.

· According to Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG, it is likely to rain in most areas of the country in the upcoming week, yet it will not be heavy enough to cause flooding.

· The Acting President of the NUG claimed that the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) had no longer been valid since the military coup and the military junta not only failed to follow the NCA but also violated the basic principles. He added that it would be a shame for the junta army to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the agreement.

· According to the Interim Karenni Administration, there have been 270,000 displaced people in Karenni State due to local battles over the period of more than two and a half years. Reportedly, they have had the hardships in getting food.

· According to Ministry of Human Rights-NUG, the NUG has been present at the 27th Forum 2000 Conference in Czech. Reportedly, two union ministers and the ethnic representatives will hold a discussion under the theme - "Myanmar’s Overlooked Struggle”.

Revolution Activities

· In Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army shot dead a person who had come back to the village, thinking that the junta soldiers had left.

· In Yinmabin Township, the junta army killed 6 people along their invasion.

· In Khin-U Township, the junta army invading the area killed a local man and set mines in the village. Reportedly, a person got injured.

· In Indaw Township, the junta army Regiment (77) had arrested a supporter of the PDF. Two months later, he was found murdered with his hands being tied to his back.

· In Sagaing Township, there were attacks on the junta army stationing in Theim Chaung Village for two consecutive days. Reportedly, there might have been casualties.

· On the border of Sagaing Township and Wetlet Township, the displaced people, who have run away from battles for three months, have been badly in need of food and medicine.

· On Monday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.

· In Butalin Township and Kani Township of Sagaing Federal Unit, there was a federal training to over 100 villagers.

· In Kani Township, a combined rally of Spring Revolution and local people conducted an anti-junta public talk, along with the show of revolution movies.

· In Khin-U Township, the junta army arrested and killed a person in front of Nyaungbingyisu Police Station on Sunday evening.

· In Longlone Township of Tanintharyi Region, there was an attack on the junta army based in Kyauknihmaw Village. Afterwards, the military junta strengthened their forces including navy ships.

· In Natoegyi Township of Mandalay Region, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta armed forces in Nyaungzin Village and Letwe Village. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died.

· Between Patheingyi Township and Madayar Township in Mandalay Region, there was an attack via 40mm grenades on the junta’s Kyarnikan Police Station.

· On Sunday night, some young people hung anti-junta banners at a site in Yangon.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAO)

· According to Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army, 16 junta soldiers including an officer died in local battles in Kokang Area.

· According to Karen National Union, the number of displaced people has reached up to over 717,000 due to human rights violations of the junta army and local battles. Reportedly, they are urgently in need of assistance.

· In Kawkarait Township under the KNU Brigade (6), the junta army shot mortars towards local villages, injuring a person.

· Kun Okka, the patron of Pa-O National Liberation Army in association with the military junta, said that the current situation could not go on like this according to Myanmar’s politics and it was necessary to give first priority to reduce and stop the conflicts as the country had been in a loss.

· The Chair of Restoration Council of Shan State, in association with the military junta, said that it was necessary to amend the Constitution, which is a part of the political crisis.

The Military Council

· In Pyin Oo Lwin of Mandalay Region, the military junta has been arranging to hold the Dazaungdine hot air balloon festival.

· After finding out the corruption related to the sale of foreign currency to private businesses, the military junta cancelled the fuel oil import and distribution supervision committee led by the Deputy Minister of Economics and Commerce.

· A Special Envoy of China met with the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing in Naypyidaw.

· The junta Chief Minister of Yangon Region claimed that they had resolved 150 cases of dispute between employers and employees due to workplace communication problems in Yangon.

Summary on 17 October

· The leaders of RCSS and PNLO do not seem to understand that the junta army is the cause of Myanmar’s political crisis. They have been echoing Min Aung Hlaing to please him.

· The junta armed forces have been killing people and burning villages. Consequently, thousands of local people have run away and they are in need of emergency assistance. Therefore, it is necessary to support them as the saying goes - ‘From the people to the people’.
