The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In a national speech on Saturday, the Acting President of the NUG said that there was no way to go back to the 2008 Constitution and they had been making an effort to build unity with remaining ethnic organizations.
  • The Acting President also said that PDFs and their alliance of ethnic armed organizations had been able to control most rural areas and there would soon be liberated regions.
  • The Acting President conveyed a message to the international community that supporting the military junta was against the desire of the Myanmar people.
  • On Saturday, the NUG announced that U Kyaw Zaw had been appointed as spokesperson of their President Office.
  • In the report on their activities, Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG called on the public to maintain cooperation, support and determination for the victory of the revolution.
  • On one-year anniversary of the NUG, Chair of Pao National Federal Council-PNFC called on all people, including the NUG, to join hands until the success of the revolution to put an end to all forms of dictatorship and build a federal union.

Revolution Activities

  • In Monywa of Sagaing Region, local PDFs attacked No. (2) Police Station at 1:30 am Saturday. Reportedly, 12 members of the junta police died.
  • In Monywa, there was a grenade attack on the junta inspection gate at Tamartan Crossroads Traffic Lights on Friday. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died.
  • In Yinmabin Township, local PDFs conducted a bomb attack via drone on the building, where the junta army and Pyusawti had been stationing in Bantbwe Village, at 10:00 am Saturday. Reportedly, there might be casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Wetlet Township, a local guerrilla force led an attack on the junta waterway police camp near Indaung Village at 8:30 pm Friday. Reportedly, 2 police members died, 3 others were caught alive and weapons were confiscated.
  • In Myaung Township, a combined force of PDFs conducted a grenade attack on a local police station at 5:20 pm Friday while there was a birthday party of the second police officer Sithu Lwin.
  • In a village of Pale Township, there was a powerful march against the military dictatorship and the junta Thingyan on Saturday morning.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, local people marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Yinmabin District, LGBTs led a 402-day protest against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Tamu, local PDFs attacked a group of Pyusawti committing robbery under false pretences of PDF on Friday afternoon. Reportedly, 2 Pyusawti members died and one other ran away.
  • In Kyunghla Township, the junta army set fire to Waibula Village for the second time at about 5:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, half of the village was burnt down.
  • In Myaung Township, local PDF arrested 3 illegal drug dealers and users on Thursday.
  • In North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, there was a bomb explosion in Ka Ward at 8:35 am Saturday.
  • In Tontay Township, local PDF conducted an explosion at the military security office at about 7:45 pm Friday.
  • In Bahan Township, Dark Shadow conducted an explosion on military housing and a bunker on Saturday morning.
  • In Bahan Township, there was a grenade attack on junta soldiers on their way to entertain at the junta Yangon Mayor Pandal on Saturday morning. Reportedly, there were casualties among them.
  • In Dala Township, there were exchanges of fire between junta soldiers and police members at the Central Pandal on Friday evening. Reportedly, the pandal had to be disassembled.
  • In Kawhmu Township, Southern PDF conducted a guerrilla attack on a military convoy at about 5:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and many others were injured.
  • In South Dagon Township, unknown people fired 9 gunshots at Nyein Chan Aung, allegedly a junta informer in Ward 71, on Friday night.
  • In Natogyi Township of Mandalay Region, local PDF fired a mortar at the junta army taking security at a sub-power station in Pyinsi Village at 8:00 pm Friday.
  • In Pauk Township of Magwe Region, the junta army shot a 60 mm grenade into the hut of the IDPs from Tansu Village in the evening of 12 April. Reportedly, 9 IDPs died.
  • In Tilin Township, local guerrilla force conducted a surprise attack on the police station in Saymintaw Village at 6:00 am Saturday. Reportedly, 2 members of the junta police died and 3 others were injured.
  • On Saturday, PDF-Gangaw Battalion (YAW REGION) published a video of testing 60mm grenades, which were made to be safe for shooters, and hand-made guns.
  • In Pathein of Ayeyarwaddy Region, there was a bomb explosion in front of the floating market on Kanna Road at about 1:00 pm Saturday.
  • In Phyapone Township, there were two bomb explosions near the junta municipal office and Central Pandal on Saturday morning. Reportedly, there were many casualties. According to local PDFs, they carried out the attack.
  • In Kyaunggone Township, there was a bomb explosion in front of the junta pandal at about 6:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, many people were injured.
  • In Maubin, there was a bomb explosion near the junta Central Pandal in Ward 5 at 3:30 pm Friday.
  • In Hinthada Township, local PDF blew up a MyTel telecom tower near Pyidawgone Village at 8:30 pm Friday.
  • In Paungti Township of Bago Region, a combined force of PDFs attacked the junta army in Lebin Village at 3:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, a combined rally of women, basic education students, LGBTs and youth conducted a rosy movement against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Pulaw Township, the junta army arrested 3 men in Kade Village on Thursday and killed one of them.
  • In Kyaikmayaw Township of Mon State, an armed group attacked the camp of the Border Guard Force at Chaunghnakwa Bridge on Saturday morning. Reportedly, 5 BGF members died.
  • In Ywangan Township of Shan South, junta soldiers and Pyusawti members set fire to the house of U Htay Aung in Peyintaung Village at 2:30 am Saturday.
  • In Ywangan Township, there was a heavy fighting between the junta army and local PDF in the south of Taung-Oo Village on Friday. Reportedly, 2 PDF members died and another one was injured.
  • In Kalaw Township, there was a bomb explosion at Inkaung Dam on Friday afternoon. Reportedly, there were no casualties.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, a combined rally of gems workers marched for a union of federal democracy and against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Myitkyina, there was gunfire at the walking Thingyan at 5:00 pm Friday.
  • In Myitkyina, there was a bomb explosion at the junta state immigration office at 9:30 pm Friday.
  • In Kyain Seikkyi Township of Karen State, there was a mine explosion at the pandal in Kyonekawun Village on Friday morning. Reportedly, there were no casualties.
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, DMO Local PDF announced the kinds of crimes for legal action on Saturday.
  • In South Korea, Degu Sayardaw led a protest against the military dictatorship in Myanmar on Saturday morning.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Laykaykaw Area under the control of the KNU Brigade (6), the junta army had a great loss in battles up to Friday morning and a lot of weapons were confiscated.
  • In Wawlaymyaing Area under KNU Brigade (6), a large number of the junta armed forces invaded the area starting from the 2nd week of April. Consequently, there were heavy battles between them and a combined force of KNLA, KNDO and PDF. As for the IDPs, they have been badly in need of food and medicine.
  • According to Thai media, there was a free meeting among Thai Border Guard Force, Myanmar junta army and KNLA for sustainable friendship between Thailand and Myanmar on the new year on Friday morning.

The Military Council

  • According to the junta media, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and his wife went again to the pandals of the junta armed forces in Pyin Oo Lwin on Saturday.
  • On Friday, the second junta leader Soe Win went to the pandals in Nay Pyi Taw.
  • The junta newspaper stated that crowds of people enjoyed the 3rd day of the water festival throughout the country on Friday.
  • Reportedly, the cars enjoying the water festival in front of the junta Yangon Mayor Pandal were the ones licensed under the name of the municipal department.
  • According to the junta propaganda leader, the Vice-Chair of the junta Central Bank, who had been shot, was in recovery.
  • On a social media, a letter from a dead soldier to his family went viral. In the letter, he told his family not to hate PDFs upon his death and he had been fighting hard to the death since the beginning of the military operation.

Summary on 16 April

  • In most parts of the country, Myanmar people protested against the junta water festival and they managed to transform it into Revolution Thingyan. On the last day of the festival, just a few pro-military people played water at the junta pandals.
  • On the other hand, the military junta raised their invasion activities in Sagaing, Magwe, Karen, Karenni and Kachin with powerful anti-junta movements. They also set fire to villages. Consequently, there were heavy battles between them and local PDFs.
  • The Acting President of the NUG said that PDFs and their partner ethnic armed organizations had been able to control most rural areas and there would soon be liberated regions. It was such a good piece of news for the public. It could also be regarded as the success of PDFs.
