Spring Revolution Daily News for 16 September 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • At 10:00 am Friday, Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) conducted an event in commemoration of International Democracy Day. 
  • Yinmabin District Regiment (3), (4), (5) and (6) announced that they would remain to be PDFs, following Chain of Command and Code of Conduct while getting continuous support from the Ministry of Defence-NUG and the military region. 
  • Ministry of Defence-NUG called on the schools and educational institutions to help children and students with constant learning in the interim. 
  • The NUG Central Committee on Counter Terrorism announced that they had declared the junta staff of the Central Bank to be terrorists according to the anti-terrorism law. 
  • The NUG stated that the narcotic production and transactions had increased in Myanmar since the military coup in February 2021. They added that they had regarded to take preventive measures as a duty of the revolution. 
  • Ministry of Defence-NUG presented about their financial and weapon support to Myanmar’s Royal Dragon Army, formerly led by Captain Dragon. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In the upper part of Tamu Township in Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been invading the area. Consequently, there might be local battles anytime. Therefore, the revolution forces called on the public not to temporarily use Tamu-Aungzaya Road Section. 
  • In Sagaing Township, the junta army has been invading the area. Consequently, the public from 7 villages have had to run away even amidst terrible weather. 
  • In Salingyi Township, People’s Administration and Latbadaung Taung Strike Committee expressed their support for U Kyaw Moe Tun as Myanmar’s Ambassador. 
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin state, a rally of gems miners protested against the military dictatorship on Friday morning. 
  • In Monywa Township, there was an attack via mortars on the camp of Pyusawti in Tawpu Village. 
  • In Monywa, Black Falcon issued a warning to the military junta to stop their oppression and arrest of the families and relatives in addition to revolutionists and supporters and that there would be serious action against the junta soldiers who fail to do so. 
  • On Wednesday evening, a couple, a junta police officer working at Mandalay International Airport and his wife, were shot dead in Sagaing. 
  • In Yesagyo of Magwe Region, there was a mine attack on Nyein Zarni Army Camp in Phaungdaw-OO Ward on 10 September. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and another one got injured. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • In Mone Township under Karen National Union Brigade (3), the junta armed forces conducted air strikes via fighter jets on local villages. Consequently, over 5000 people had to run away. 
  • In Winyay Township of Kayin State, there was a battle between the junta army and a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army near Kale Dagundine Village on Thursday. 
  • A soldier from the junta army Regiment (530) based in Loilinle defected to Karenni Nationalities Defence Force together with weapons. 
  • In Fruso Township of Karenni State, no less than 20 junta soldiers died and weapons were confiscated in local battles. 

The Military Council 

  • On Thursday, the junta Minister of Home Affairs stated that the NGOs and INGOs in Myanmar must register without fail and they must seek recommendation from governmental departments when registering. 
  • The junta Minister of Foreign Affairs said that they hope to improve cooperation between Myanmar and Russia in various sectors. 
  • The junta Union Election Commission approved of the establishment of Labor Party and Union Peace and Unity Party. 
  • According to the junta Immigration and Population, they have been carrying out activities via an appointment system as the number of applicants has increased for temporary border pass to go from Muse of Myanmar to China. 
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, the junta Township Administration Team instructed ward and village administrators to pay homage to Maravijaya Buddha Image erected by the junta leader in Naypyidaw. 
  • Myanmar expressed their concern about poor accuracy of radar in the fighter aircrafts purchased from China. They have not been able to use most of such expensive military planes. 
  • In Chaung-U Township of Sagaing Region, the junta soldiers and Pyusawti members killed a shepherd and took away 140 sheep. 

Summary on 16 September 

  • In Karenni State, the military junta has had a great loss almost every day. At the same time, those who do not fight there have defected to the revolution forces on a daily basis. Soon, the junta army with a great loss might have to let go of Karenni State. 
  • The junta army still behave like fascists. Wherever they go, they carry out violence such as killing people and burning houses. When taking back justice in the future, there must be action against the junta soldiers; from grassroots level up to officers.
