The Military Council

  • The junta leader urged military officers, soldiers and their families to be content, try their best with honesty and make both ends meet.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing explained to the captains-to-be from the junta Defence Service Academy that there had been electoral fraud. Without solving them, there had also been attempts to take power by force. Therefore, a state of emergency had to be declared in the country and the military had to take on responsibilities of the nation in accordance with the hand-over of the acting president.
  • The junta minister Dr. Htay Aung presented at 54th East Asia and Pacific Commission meeting and 33rd East Asia-Pacific and South Asia joint-commission meeting that being a member of UNWTO, Myanmar had been taking part in tourism developments together with other countries.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing explained to the captains-to-be from the junta Defence Service Academy that with regard to peace, they had been working as much as possible in accordance with the agreements of the NCA.
  • At the meeting with ASEAN economic ministers and the U.S trade representative, the junta union minister discussed that when building up the economy in the post COVID-19 period, it was necessary to work towards digital trade and thus, he called for support to help SMEs equip with digital skills.
  • In Theinni Township of Shan North, the junta Border Guard Forces destroyed farms of Narty villagers and opened fire to threaten them.
  • On Wednesday, the junta Central Bank sold US$ 8 million again via the foreign currency bidding system. Reportedly, the average exchange rate for the bid was 1750 Kyats per dollar.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The Interim Yangon University Council blacklisted 7 people, including Yangon University rector Dr. Tin Mg Tun, who were appointed by the military junta for service at administration departments.
  • The NUG announced that U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, attended the closing ceremony of 75th UN General Assembly and the opening ceremony of the 76th UN General Assembly.
  • The NUG announced on Wednesday that the administrators in Khaingkan of Titain Township in Chin State resigned from their positions and there were 33 soldiers and police from all over the country who made contact to join the people’s embrace.
  • The NUG announced with a special warning not to buy the land and buildings of Myanmar embassies in foreign countries, which the military junta had been arranging for sale, as the purchase would end up to be illegal.
  • Ministry of Home Affairs-NUG issued a notice of caution in the period of battle and how the public could participate in revolution activities.

Revolution Activities

  • On Wednesday afternoon, a MyTel telecom tower was destroyed in Toadlie village of Titain Township.
  • In the south of Chin State, there was a fighting between the junta army and CDF Kanpetlet near Kanpetlet at about 7:00 am Wednesday. The mortars shot by the junta armed forces fell and exploded near some houses in the town, causing damage.
  • ACPLF announced that they had made an attack on Tuesday evening, targeting the junta armed forces in South Dagon Township football field.
  • In Mayangone Township of Yangon Region, there was an explosion near 9 Mile Ocean shopping centre at about 8:00 am Wednesday.
  • In memory of no less than 76 peaceful young protesters who were ruthlessly killed 6 months ago, Hlaingthaya Urban Guerrilla Force attacked the military junta and related areas on Tuesday night with 6 remote bombs.
  • In Hlaing Township, a rally of Octopus Guerrilla Protest conducted a public movement, chanting slogans.
  • In North Okkalapa Township, young people recorded anti-junta slogans and placed it at the centre of (2) market on Wednesday.
  • Dagon University Students’ Union announced that the junta armed forces arrested 6 Dagon University students on Tuesday night.
  • In Tontay Township, the junta armed forces killed Ko Thet Lwin Oo by shooting at his house in Biko village on Tuesday night.
  • In Hlaing Township, there was a protest against the military dictatorship, with banners containing anti-junta slogans.
  • Due to warfare activities in the areas under the influence of KNU Regiment (4); eastern area of Dawei Township, Painnetaung in Pulaw Township, Sake village and Kyayzudaw village in Yebyu Township last month, more than 500 IDPs could not return home yet.
  • In Bogalay Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, a group of unknown people set fire to a MyTel telecom tower in Seinhai village at about 3:00 am Wednesday.
  • The regional monks’ organization issued a letter that monasteries in Ayeyarwaddy Region were to remove the people (permanent residents) from the compound and they were not to accept overnight guests.
  • In Zalun Township, the junta police and soldiers arrested 5 workers of a fish farm in Taliepone village at about 7:00 am Tuesday, accusing them of being PDF members.
  • On Wednesday, Kalay people led a march against the military dictatorship.
  • In Dibeyin Township of Sagaing Region, one of the MyTel telecom towers was blown up at about 12:00 am Tuesday.
  • On Wednesday, a rally of Monywa-Amyint road-side villages protested against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Salingyi Township, local residents of Tawgyaung village expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Monywa Township, local people marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Shwebo Township, the public marched on Wednesday morning and expressed their desire against the military dictatorship.
  • In Myaing Township, Basic Education General Strike Committee, in cooperation with the public from south west zone, expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Magwe Region, U Naing Linn, EC member of NLD in Salin Township, was shot dead by the junta armed forces on Tuesday night. According to local residents, his dead body was taken away by force and a ransom was demanded to get it back.
  • On Wednesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • On Wednesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • On Wednesday, a rally of Mandalay variety force marched up to 84 road and protested against the military watchdog.
  • On Wednesday, a rally of Maha Aungmye Township marched against the military watchdog.
  • On Wednesday, a rally of Mandalay engineers marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • At about 7:00 am Wednesday, the junta armed forces made a crackdown on a rally of Aungmye Thazan Schools. According to protest leaders, there were no arrests or casualties.
  • In Indagaw- army area in Bago Region, there was a robbery on a Ayeyarwaddy Bank armoured vehicle on Monday. The military junta accused Bago PDF of committing the crime. They also announced that 12 people were arrested with weapons.
  • A member of the NLD in Wah Township died while he was being detained by the junta army. His family was not informed about that and his dead body was cremated in secret.
  • According to Nay Pyi Taw PDF, they attacked the police in charge of security at Shansu inspection camp in Lewe Township. In the incident, a second sergeant died with a gunshot to his eye.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • At about 6:00 am Wednesday, there was a fighting between KIA and the junta army on Tanai-Shinbweyan road.
  • Starting from 7:25 am Wednesday, a large number of northern alliance, led by SSPP/SSA, invaded the camp of RCSS-SSA near Wanmai village in Maikai Township of Shan North.
  • KNDF announced on Tuesday that they would fight against the junta armed forces all over Karenni State.
  • In Kachin State, military troops sent a request letter to KIA not to come and attack them. The battles resumed three days after that.

Summary on 15th September

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing explained to the captains-to-be from the junta Defence Service Academy and family members of the junta army that he had to maintain the power of the country as it was about to get into trouble because of electoral fraud, and the election would be held again. He had to do the explanation by himself. Judging from this, there might be a decrease in trust within the army on his leadership and excuses. Since before the first wave of COVID-19, family members of the army could not go out at all. They have been under control even in terms of philosophy. However, the flow of news could not be restricted in the IT age.
  • Amidst tight security measures in Yangon, Mandalay, Sagaing and Magwe, there were public protests against the military dictatorship. As for Chin, Kayar, Kachin and Sagaing, they had ongoing battles. In Kayar, PDFs announced that they would fight against the junta armed forces throughout the whole state. Consequently, the battles might become more severe in the days to come.
  • As for the NUG, they had been trying hard to gain recognition amongst the international community.
  • In Shan North, there were heavy battles between two Shan EAOs. Moreover, 3 forces of the northern alliance came into the fighting. Due to such battles between EAO which signed the NCA and those who did not sign the NCA, the number of IDPs might be on the rise.
