The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that some ethnic armed organizations need to make practical reflections without assumptions like “There is no need to discuss as the government is not an elected one” and “They would not be able to fully implement the peace process”.
  • The military junta, which used to hinder the peace process in the civilian government, announced that lawsuits against 114 EAO members were closed.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the junta Ministry of Education has been trying to reopen universities, degree colleges and colleges.
  • Dr. Thet Khine Win, the junta minister of Health, said that the rate of COVID-19 infection was getting high in some states and regions.
  • The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that ASEAN special envoy requested the military junta to follow ASEAN 5-point consensus. As for the military junta, they made bargains over and over again as they found it difficult to implement some points.
  • Exercising Section (144), the military junta prohibited lawyer U Khin Maung Zaw from talking about the conditions of lawsuits against State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi outside of the court.
  • The UEC will meet and discuss with political parties and civil society organizations to adopt the Proportional representation (PR) system in upcoming elections.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs-NUG announced that under the protection of the military junta, some armed groups fighting against neighbouring countries were residing in Myanmar and cooperating with the junta armed forces in the fight against PDFs.
  • Man Win Khine Than, Union Prime Minister of the NUG and Chair of Committee on the Victory of CDM, announced that those who get involved in violent activities like dismissing CDM railway staff would be recorded and necessary action would be taken against them.
  • Dr. Sasa, Union Minister of International Relations-NUG, called on all democratic nations to recognize the NUG like France, taking democracy into consideration, and reject the military junta.
  • U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, said that the Myanmar Army had criticized protectors of human rights and treated them as criminals throughout history. After violent crackdowns on peaceful protests, the situation was getting more serious.
  • The public have been taking part in People’s Defensive War. According to the NUG, there were attacks on 15 military targets of the enemy, 27 administration targets and 4 business targets on Wednesday.

Revolution Activities

  • According to Reuters news, Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary General, postponed his meeting with ASEAN Ministers as he did not want to recognize the military junta.
  • In Insein Township of Yangon Region, Myo Myint, junta-appointed hundred-household leader in Taungthugone Ward, was shot dead at Yoedaya market on Friday morning.
  • In Thaketa Township, a combined rally of youth from various townships expressed their desire against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Thaketa Township, young people placed an anti-junta banner on an overhead bridge on Friday.
  • According to Free Tiger Ranger (Pazundaung Township Branch), they conducted a bomb attack at the revenue office on the corner of Trader road and Maha Bandula road at about 10:30 am Friday.
  • According to local residents, staff of City Development have been collecting water bills for the 5 previous months in the wards of North Okkalapa Township.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, a rally of Ba-Ka-Tha Students marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Friday afternoon.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, the rural community expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Friday morning, chanting “Let’s take part in the revolution for the victory”.
  • In Dawei Township, young residents made an indoors strike against the military dictatorship on Friday morning.
  • In Taninthayi of Myeik District, there was a bomb attack at the car of Captain Min Swe Oo from the junta army on Thursday night. Reportedly, the captain was seriously injured.
  • In Sagaing Region, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Shwebo Township, local people marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Khin-U Township, junta soldiers on foot were attacked with mines near Monetaw village at about 7:00 am Friday. According to Shwebo Thunder & Storm, 12 junta soldiers died.
  • On Friday, Monywa Township Basic Education Students’ Union led a protest against the military dictatorship.
  • In Mandalay, a rally of youth marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Natoegyi Township, Zero Guerrilla Force conducted an attack at the junta army stationing in Suphyugone village school at about 10:42 pm Thursday. Reportedly, no less than 12 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • On Friday morning, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In the compound of Kantatgone Masoeyain monestic education school, the statue of State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi was destroyed by 30 unknown people on Thursday morning.
  • Chin National Organization/ Chin National Army announced that they would take revenge on the junta armed forces which had killed the public and set fire to houses all over the country, including Chin State.
  • After the sound of gunfire came out in Hakha of Chin State, the former office of population and immigration in Chin-Uzi Ward was burnt down.
  • In Matupi Township, there were exchanges of fire between the junta army and CDF near Lammyo river at about 12:00 pm Friday.
  • In Dimawso Township of Kayah (Karenni) State, the junta armed forces have been stealing rice-bags from a public rice-mill in Shweyaut Ward. According to Dimawso PDF, there were gunshots in the meeting with them.
  • In Mawlamyeingyun Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, a clerk of administration office from Kyawzan village, was shot dead near Kyaikpi village at about 8:00 am Friday.
  • Ethnic Armed Organizations
  • According to KNU, a combined force of the junta army and BGF 1014 shot dead a villager on the road near Mibone village monastery in Pha-Ang Township at about 5:00 pm on 10th October.
  • KNDO announced that there was a fighting between KNU/KNLA and the junta army invading Kawkarait Township. Reportedly, 7 junta soldiers died and 16 others were injured.
  • On the 6th anniversary of National Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), KNU released a statement that Myanmar was on the verge of collapsing due to the military coup, the NCA came to a stop, and the country was under the military dictatorship again.
  • KNU called on the junta army to restore the dignity of the military, officially announce their pledge for building a democratic nation and resign from their involvement in political affairs.
  • The EAOs which have signed the NCA called for unexceptional release of all political leaders and people who were arrested after the coup, and for solving current political crisis in a peaceful way.
  • In Loikaw of Karenni State, the staff of City Development have been collecting taxes from the public. Therefore, KNDF B.02 carried out an explosion near City Development office as a warning at about 11:00 am Friday.

Summary on 15th October

  • Due to the response of the military junta that they would not fulfill the request of ASEAN, it seems likely that they will not get along with ASEAN member states in the future. As the UN, the U.S and European countries have been putting pressure on ASEAN regarding Myanmar’s affairs, they will not probably give favour to the military junta.
  • The EAOs which have signed the NCA called on the junta army to leave the political field and release those who were arrested. As for ethnic people, they find it difficult to believe in the peace process led by the military junta, which is full of violence and lies.
  • In Chin, Sagaing, Kayah, Kayin, Kachin and Shan North, there were heavy battles. As for Yangon, Mandalay, Magwe, Sagaing, Mon, Bago and Ayeyarwaddy, they had public protests as well as guerrilla attacks of armed revolution and clearance activities of junta informers.
