The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In a meeting on Tuesday, the Acting NUG President said that it was time to put an end to the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing.
  • The NUG announced that 40 junta soldiers died in battles between the junta army and PDF in Naungcho Township in northern Shan State on Sunday and Monday.
  • Pekone PDF called for contributions from the public to NUG fund-raising activities.
  • The NUG Ministry of Education sent a statement saying that it pledged to end all forms of dictatorship and build a nation of federal democracy, to an event in memory of Ko Khant Nyar Hein, a first-year medical student who lost life last year.

Revolution Activities

  • In Mawlight Township in Sagaing Region, a combined force of local PDFs attacked a Pyu Sa Htee training camp on Monday morning. Reportedly, a captain from the junta army and three Pyu Saw Htee members died, and five weapons were confiscated together with bullets.
  • In Chaung-U Township, junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members raided Shwehle Village at about 6:00 am Monday. Reportedly, they set fire to houses and shot dead a villager.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta armed forces set fire to 100 houses in villages and killed 3 residents from 5 to 13 March.
  • According to Kalay PDF, they conducted a 10000-bullet challenge from 1 to 14 March and received contributions worth of over 100 lakh MMK.
  • In Kalay Township, the junta army set fire to Natchaung Village again on Tuesday causing local people to run away.
  • Starting from Tuesday morning, Ye-U Township PDF reopened the Ye U-Nyaunghla road section, which had been closed for security reasons.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of three villages marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • At the 370th day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Monywa, youths from Y.R.F led a march against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, holding signs- saying ‘Fight for a new Burma’.
  • In the north of Yinmabin, there was fighting between local PDF members and the junta army stationed in Bantbway Village on Monday night.
  • In Monywa Township, a team led by Captain Saturday stabbed Htet Thu Rain, allegedly a junta informer, to death in Thitseit Village, at about 9:00 pm Sunday.
  • On Monday night, youths from the Yangon Revolution Force - YRF (Soft Strike Community) led a march against the military dictatorship in a downtown area where there was a power outage.
  • In Bahan Township in Yangon Region, the junta army arrested Ko Soe Yar Zar and seven members of his family, accusing them of being PDF members. They also robbed valuable things from the house.
  • In Thingangyun Township, the junta army confiscated 10 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) near a dust bin on Kamagyi Street at 6:40 pm on Monday.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, a rally of 500 local people carried out an anti-junta protest on Tuesday, showing their support for the the KIA, PDF and NUG. They also prayed for Ko Kyaw Lin Htike who lost his life last year.
  • In Yesagyo Township in Magwe Region, local PDFs attacked the house of Wai Lwin, a Pyu Saw Htee leader in Gwecho Village, on Sunday afternoon. That evening he had shot dead a hearing-impaired neighbor named U Kyaw Mg and set fire to 15 houses.
  • In Myaing Township, the Basic Education General Strike Committee and the public conducted a nighttime protest against the military dictatorship on Monday, holding candles and anti-junta signs.
  • In Chanmya Thazi Township in Mandalay Region, there was an explosion near Thaitpan Road and 78 Street on Monday evening. Reportedly, two members of the urban guerrilla force lost their lives. Instead of taking away their bodies, the junta army set a trap with them to catch other members.
  • On Tuesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Nahtogyi Township, a local PDF announced on Monday that they had shot dead two junta informers in Min Village.
  • On Tuesday, Thabaitgyin PDF announced that they had conducted mine attacks on junta cars driving along Moegoke Road.
  • In Myotha in Ngazun Township, there was a grenade attack at the electricity office as they were preparing to collect electricity bills at 7:30 pm on Monday.
  • On Monday afternoon, a military convoy was attacked with a variety of mines by Kyaukse PDF. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta soldiers and the exact number was still unknown.
  • In Myeik in Tanintharyi Region, the NLD office was set on fire on Monday evening.
  • In Inkapu Township in Ayeyarwaddy Region, Hlaing Win Aung, an informer to the junta, was killed on 11 March in Tanbingone Village. After the incident, the junta armed forces arrested 16 local people.
  • In Intagaw Township of Bago Region, U Mg Thein, a hundred-household leader in Kyauktan Village, was shot by a local PDF at 8:00 am Monday.
  • In Myitkyina in Kachin State, there was a bomb attack at the Legone Ward administration office on Tuesday morning.
  • In Shweku Township, there was a rumor that the Myohla PDF had been disarmed and their leader had been arrested by the KIA.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Mewai Area under the control of KNU Brigade (5), a whole troop of junta soldiers died after a battle with a combined force of the KNLA.
  • In Kawkarait Township, there was military tension between the junta army and the local KNLA. On Tuesday morning, there were clashes between them, according to the KNU.
  • In Mawki in Dupalya District, four junta soldiers, including a captain, were caught by the KNLA and kept as prisoners.
  • Hundreds of junta soldiers entered Hpapun District which is under the control of the KNU.
  • Dr. Milanza, the daughter of the NCGUB Minister Dr. Zahlay Tan, donated 5000 USD or over 80 lakh MMK to the CNDF.

The Military Council

  • On Monday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing offered lunch to the monks who would receive religious titles.
  • On Monday, a delegation led by the junta army officer Mg Mg Aye left for Cambodia to attend the meeting of ASEAN defence force commanders in chief of, on behalf of Min Aung Hlaing.
  • The military junta announced on Monday that U Tha Htay had been appointed to be Chair of the Constitutional Court.
  • The military junta announced on Monday that U Thaung Naing, U Thein Ko Ko and Daw Thin Thin Nwet had been appointed as judges of Union Supreme Court.
  • According to an officer of the junta Central Bank, the spread of counterfeit money- 5,000 and 10,000 MMK notes- in the country could be worth billions after the military coup.
  • The junta Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation announced that over 12000 acres of land had been designated as a national park for preserving bio-diversity in Tantalan Township in Chin State.
  • At the junta Yangon Regional Court, Thura U Aung Ko, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture in the NLD government, was sentenced to 12 years in prison with labor on Monday.
  •  According to the junta newspaper on Tuesday, employers must pay the costs of COVID-19 tests, vaccines and quarantine for workers to be officially sent to Thailand via MOU.
  • There was a fake announcement that the junta leader had instructed a surprise check of overnight guests. Reportedly, it has been going viral on social media since last year.
  • In Kawthaung of Tanintharyi Region, two military medical personnel ran away from a 100-bed military hospital in March.
  • In Yanbye Township in Rakhine State, the junta army investigated some ward administrators and hundred-household leaders on Monday on suspicion of being associated with the AA.
  • In Aung Pan in southern Shan State, the junta armed forces arrested three young people on Monday night, accusing them of being involved in explosions.
  • According to truck drivers, the military junta has been demanding money from trucks and passenger expresses at three different places on the way from Kalay to Rihkhawdar.
  • According to the junta newspaper, Myanmar is now able to produce a COVID-19 vaccine called Myancopharm with the assistance from China. Reportedly, one bottle of vaccine contains five doses.

Summary on 16 March

  • Using the excuse that they are associated with PDFs, the military junta has been arresting and killing people all over the country. They ruthlessly do the same to those that have no associations with PDFs
  • Throughout the country, anti-junta movements still have great momentum. The number of CDM staff members has also increased.
  • The Acting President of the NUG said that it was time to uproot the military junta. They had received the public’s contributions and would spend most money on military affairs. Consequently, there would be a great number of revolutionary activities soon.
