Yangon Region

  • Last night, armed forces arrested two young people who live in Shangone Street and Aungtawmu Street in Myaynigon, Sanchaung Township.
  • At about 8:40 pm last night, there was an explosion near the office of Ward (71) in South Dagon Township and reportedly one person was injured.
  • Yesterday morning, U Aye Tun, the deputy education officer of Thanlyin-Kyauktan Township, was shot to death on the spot by a gunman in front of Basic Education High School- BEHS (1). Reportedly, the education staff members, who have been in CDM, were arrested and sued due to that case.
  • At about 9:40 am this morning, U Hla Oo, the military-appointed administrator of Ward (13), Hlaingthaya Township, was shot dead near his house at Pin Lone Zay bus stop. Afterwards, the armed forces tightened security in Hlaingthaya Township and made investigations, blocking the entrance to the township; Bayint Naung Aung Zay Ya suspension bridge and Shwe Pyi Tha bridge.
  • At about 10:30 am yesterday, the security forces comprising military-appointed administrators, police, soldiers and bomb-clearance teams made searches of the bags of the passers-by at Junction City on Bogyoke Aung San Road.

Mandalay Region

  • On Tuesday, armed forces arrested Ma Ei Tone (Ei Tone Store), who had been charged with Section 505 (a) for taking part in anti-junta movements in Taungtha.
  • In Myingyan, the police in a car and some armed bikers raided the houses of Ko Hla Myo Kyaw, a member of Myinjan Public Movement Committee, who has been charged with Section 505 (a), and of another man in Ward No. (7/B). Reportedly, these men escaped as they had fled in advance. This is the second time that the armed forces have made searches in the house of Ko Hla Myo Kyaw. On their first raid, they placed a warrant there.
  • In Kun Site, a village that is 10 miles away from Myingyan, arrests are being made with suspicion yesterday morning for the case in which U Myint Kyaw, a pro-military and former chair of the village USDP party, who was stabbed on 15 June. So, most young and middle-aged people have moved away from the village.
  • In Thapaitgyin township, there were explosions at the schools; Pauktabin BEHS and Shwe Kyunbin affiliated BEHS. No damage or injury was reported. The armed forces arrived there and tightened security.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township, Mg Su Paing Htwe (Paing Paing) was shot in the stomach by the armed forces at about 11:00 pm on the night of 14 June while he was riding his motorbike. Amidst the attempts for medical treatment, he died of heavy bleeding. His funeral reportedly took place yesterday.
  • In Aungmye Tha Zan Township, protesters from the schools within the township, in cooperation with alumni from BEHS (24) and students from Cooperative University, expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • Even amidst the tight security of the armed forces, Man Maha Aungmye general public took to the streets and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • Gem traders and brokers, in cooperation with Seinban protesters, expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • Manlay Pyinyut Monk Union takes to the streets every day without fail to protest against the military dictatorship.
  • In the city, security has been raised at township administration offices which are under the control of the military. The streets in front of some offices have been blocked with the instructions to use other ones, according to the confirmation of a local at 4:00 pm.

Bago Region

  • In the afternoon of Tuesday, the armed forces fired their guns and entered a compound on Pyi Yadana Street in Shwebe Ward in the town of Pyi in order to arrest a young man who has been charged with Section 505 (a). Although that young man escaped, a 35-year-old man named Ko Aung Chit was hit with the bullet and the house owner Daw Shwe Zin Oo, a 58-year old woman, was arrested.

Irrawaddy Region

  • On the night of 14 June, there was the death of a soldier in Pathein due to the argument and firing among the members of the armed forces in the compound of the ministers’ housing.
  • In Kangyi Daung at about 6:00 pm Tuesday night, there was an explosion near the house of U Hla Myint, the military-appointed chair of city development committee and a member of township administration council.
  • At about 7:30 pm Tuesday, there was an explosion at the administration office of Ward (11) in Phya Pone. A security guard at the office was injured.
  • In the health check at Ngaputaw township police station the previous day, it was found out that two policemen (including a second police officer) were COVID-19 positive and so was a person in detention.
  • In all townships of Irrawaddy Region, the curfew hour has been changed from 8:00pm-4:00 am to 10:00 pm-4:00 am.
  • In the villages of Wahkema Township, Myaungmya District, people are faced with the pressure through the military-appointed administrators to gather young villagers between the age of 18 to 35 to form a people’s army with four people per village and two people per less-populated village. If the villagers don’t want to do this, they are forced to give 5000 to 10,000 Ks.

Sagaing Region

  • In the firing between the military and the local PDF of Minkin and Kani townships the previous day, a member of the military died and a lot of them were injured. Minkin PDF issued that they had better chance in operations, but they had to retreat for security as the photos of the locations and the movements of the forces went viral on social media. They also expressed their apology for not being able to fully protect the villagers in Pintin where the military destroyed the houses, took property by force and beat 5 villagers.
  • The local people from Kalay went round the town on their motorbikes and protested against the military dictatorship. In addition, Kalay general strike gathered hundreds of protesters on Tuesday evening calling for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • Monywa roadside village communities conducted a protest at dawn and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In Tamu, People Defense Force has been established with ethnic groups to protect the public and fight against the military junta.
  • Hundreds of villagers from the northern part of Salingyi and the east of Yinmarbin gathered and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • At about 8:30 am Wednesday, a military helicopter flew over the town in Salingyi as if they were doing security inspection.
  • Monywa townspeople conducted an indoor strike, holding the boards in support of the PDF and NUG.
  • In Tantse Township at about 10:50 am Wednesday, U Than Win, former administrator of Daunggyi village and the one regarded as the informer to the military, was attacked by 3 men with knives, and he died on the spot.
  • Tantse people protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Legyi village of Sagaing at 12:30 pm, the armed forces arrested a teacher named Daw Suzy and a blessings-wisher U Myat Thu. They also fired their guns as a threat. Due to the request of the villagers and the students, they released the teacher, but not the blessings-wisher. They also took away 3 motorbikes.

Magwe Region

  • On Tuesday evening, a total of 40 armed forces members arrived at Gone village in Myaing Southern Zone in two military cars and one police car. They came there according to the informers who reported that air rifles were being made in the village. They arrested five villagers; U Thein Htike, U San Win, Ko Hein Zaw, Ko Min Thu Hein and Mg Thiha Soe.
  • On Tuesday evening, the armed forces set fire on the whole village at Kinma in Pauk Township. A man and three elderly people over the age of 70; U Mya Aung, Daw Gyi Mai and Daw Sein Kyi died in the fire. It was reported that they had been confined to bed due to illness. Currently, the armed forces have been in the villages with three military cars. They have also arrested some villagers. The military spread the news that the fire was caused by the attempt to set fire to the house of a USDP member.
  • On Tuesday afternoon, a CDM middle-school teacher named Daw Yamin Htike from Migyaungye BEHS was arrested because of informers while she was staying at her aunt’s house.
  • Myaing Township Basic Education General Strike Committee and the people from the west zone protested against the military dictatorship.
  • The villagers from Thalin of Gantgaw Township expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.

Tanintharyi Region

  • The people from Nyin Maw village of Long Lone Township carry out a strike every day without fail. The people from Long Lone Township protested against the military dictatorship, holding the clothing boards with the words that we will never be silent.
  • Dawei strike forces expressed their objection to the military dictatorship, holding sign boards that they will never be silent.
  • The young people from Yebyu Township expressed their desire for the complete downfall of the military dictatorship, chanting the anti-junta slogans. The locals from Yebyu-Kanbauk protested against the military dictatorship and the ‘slavery’ education.

Kachin State

  • On Tuesday evening, an unknown armed group arrived in three cars and arrested U Myint Win and his son Ko Kyaw Zaw Oo, who have been running Yathamon Restaurant in Pinbaw village of Moe Kaung. It’s not known yet why they were arrested and where they have been detained.
  • The townspeople in Moe Kaung went round the town on their motorbikes even amidst Section 144 and conducted a strike for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • Wednesday morning, Moe Nyin Basic Education Students’ Union and the public carried out a protest at dawn and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • The locals from Pha Kant and Tarmakan take to the streets every day without fail. At about 2:30 pm Wednesday, a total of 30 armed forces members arrived in three cars, fired their guns and raiding the houses of the locals.
  • As a protest against the school opening with non-CDM teachers at Haungpa village, 1000 people from Tarmakan Myo Thit, Hway Sai village and Namparhote village went up to the front of the school.
  • The staff members of the forestry department of Kachin State; 7 forestry heads, 2 officers and 1 township supervisor who joined the CDM have been dismissed.

Kayar State

  • At Thein Than Gaday bus terminal, the armed forces arrested Ko Thet Hmu Aung and Ko Min Min Oo, who transported goods to support the IDPs. The military told lies that those men were arrested together with the goods and medicines to support the terrorists.

Kayin State

  • An object said to be a hand-made mine was found at a tea-shop in No. (5) Ward of Kyarinn Seikkyi. It was taken away by the armed forces.
  • In Phaya Thonesu, U Maung Kyaw, suspected of being an informer to the military, was shot dead at a casino at noon. He was close to the Border Guard Forces (BGF) and reportedly was involved in the military crackdown on the motorbike strike of the public.

Chin State

  • Due to the military’s attacks targeting the civilians in Chin State, IDPs have run away to Mizoram in India. On Tuesday, Young Mizo Association had a discussion about this with Mizoram State Chief Minister. The request has been made to the central government of India to help for accommodation and food. Former Chin State Chief Minister Salai Lyan Lwe, more than 20 NLD MPs and more than 9000 Chin locals have been taking refuge in Mizoram.
  • At about 8:00 am Wednesday morning, the armed forces arrived at a church in Kanpetlet and arrested a priest named Fr. Michael Aung Lin accusing him of supporting the youth in the anti-junta movement.

Mon State

  • The young people in Paung conducted a protest and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.

Shan State

  • On 14 June, the armed forces members raped two Lesu ethnic women who had gone into the forest in search of mushroom in Man Tone of Shan North. Those women were a 26-year old mother and a 20-year old young woman.
  • At 8:30 am this morning, three explosions happened in Theinni of Shan North. Enquiries are being made for details.
  • A woman in Namsam made an individual protest, expressing her disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • Starting Tuesday, there have been exchanges of fire between the military and TNLA in cooperation with MNDAA near Lwekan village of Panku village group, Kutkhine Township. Almost the whole village had to run away. So far, there are more than 120 people taking refuge at Panku village monastery and it is likely that more people will come.
  • At about 8:00 am yesterday, there was a battle between KIA and the military near Konesa village of Kutkhine.
  • Giving the excuse of security, the military blocked the streets in front of BEHS (1) and (3) in Taunggyi, and placed the barbed wire.
  • At noon Wednesday, there was an explosion at PNO headquarters in Taunggyi. Enquiries are being made for details.
  • The people in Thipaw conducted a “human-less” strike, spreading pieces of paper with anti-junta slogans on them.

Rakhine State

  • Flooding occurred in Thandwe due to heavy rain. Some schools, including Thandwe BEHS, were closed and the students were sent home. In addition, the flights were canceled at the flooded airport.

Nay Pyi Taw

  • The military has been calling for the applications to the military medical academy, the military technology academy and defense service academy.
  • The public in Lewe, Pyinmana and Oattara Thiri expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship, holding posters calling for the KNU to keep supporting the anti-junta movement.

SUMMARY FOR 16 June

  • There are no guerrilla protests in Yangon. However, there are more and more clearance operations of people considered traitors. As for the military, they are tightening security, especially at the bridge and everywhere in Hlaingthaya, where a military-appointed administrator was shot dead.
  • In Mandalay, the public protests are still ongoing. As for the military, they are on patrol. But, security measures have been tightened and raised at township administration offices, the pillars for military junta.
  • There is no firing in Mintut and Kayar State, which have been declared under the military rule. However, the people cannot return home and face lack of food and medicine.
  • In other states and regions, the public protests and guerrilla protests are still in momentum. Besides this, there are more cases of removal of people considered traitors. As for the military, they make raids where there are assassinations of pro-military people. Consequently, many local people have to face suffering.
  • To avoid economic sanctions, the military is preparing to carry out projects with China and Russia. Regarding the democracy movement in the country, they have been carrying out strike-clearance operations as well as tightening security to prevent urban warfare. Moreover, they are trying to gather people by force to form a public army.
