The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment- NUG announced that their bonds worth nearly 3.6 million USD had been sold again within two weeks. They had been doing systematic management of all the money from sales to reach the destination of buyers with strong determination for the victory of the revolution. Reportedly, they managed to fulfill requirements of the revolution more effectively.
  • Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Union Minister of Health-NUG, said that they had opened 4 sub-township and township hospitals so far and there would be more to come.
  • According to the right to self-defence, the public have been taking part in a People’s Defensive War. The NUG announced that 39 members of the junta armed forces had died and 9 others had been injured on Friday.
  • On Saturday, there was an event on completion of the training batch (2/2021) by Nagar Phyu Regiment of the NUG Southern Military Headquarters somewhere in the forest.

Revolution Activities

  • In South Dagon Township of Yangon Region, a grenade was thrown at No. (5) police camp in Ward (63) on Friday evening. According to local residents, there were gunshots in response.
  • In Maha Aungmye Township of Mandalay Region, the Urban Guerrilla Force shot at the junta armed forces taking security at the electricity department at 7:45 pm Friday. Reportedly, at least a junta soldier died.
  • On Saturday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • Somewhere in Mandalay, a rally of LGBT conducted a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Kyaunggone of Ayeyarwaddy Region, a former CDM teacher was arrested on 12 January while he was teaching at No. (2) high school.
  • In Phakant Township of Kachin State, a powerful rally of local residents marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Magwe Region, the junta armed forces were attacked with mines by local PDFs in front of Myitchay police station at about 8:00 am Friday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and another one was injured.
  • In Matupi Township of Chin State, 11 people, including a journalist and a 13-year old child, had been arrested and killed by the junta army for no apparent reason. According to local sources on Friday, their dead bodies were found in forest.
  • In Titain Township, there was fighting between the junta army and local CDF, starting from 8:00 am Saturday.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, youth and basic education students carried out a dawn protest against the military dictatorship on Saturday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Dawei Township, a MyTel telecom tower, owned by the military junta, was destroyed in Pakup village on Friday.
  • In Loikaw of Karenni State, local revolution forces conducted an attack at junta soldiers on a secret patrol at the district police office on Friday evening. Reportedly, 6 members of the junta armed forces died.
  • In Taunggyi of Shan State, there was a bomb explosion near Myakantha at about 10:30 am Friday while the junta army was taking off a banner against the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing. According to local residents, 5 junta soldiers were injured.
  • As a 311-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • As a 342-day protest, Kalay General Strike marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In upper Sagaing Region, there was a clash between the junta army and a combined force of local PDF + KIA near Chaungwa village on Saturday morning.
  • In Tigyaint Township, a convoy of 4 military vehicles were attacked with mines twice by local PDFs on the Mandalay-Bamaw road on Saturday morning.
  • In Butalin, the junta army shot at an IDP named U Nyi Nyi Lwin and burnt him to death on Friday.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Saturday morning.
  • In Pale Township, there was a night protest, protected by some PDF members, on Friday.
  • Despite 3 air strikes in Pale Township, local people with strong determination continued to express their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • In Shwebo Township, 3 grenades were thrown at the house of female administrator in Wayonekan village on Friday evening. Reportedly, the administrator and 4 alleged Pyusawti members died.
  • In Myaung Township, an alliance of local PDFs destroyed the house of a junta informer in Swele-O village and made their property public.
  • In Dibeyin Township, the junta army in two helicopters made an attack on the monastery in Yingyay village on Friday afternoon and destroyed food and weapons of a local PDF.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a local PDF announced for people not to use the Monywa-Yagyi-Kalaywa road, starting from 14 January.
  • In Myaung Township, one of the local PDFs successfully tested remote weapons.
  • On Saturday, there was an event on completion of the basic military training batch (2) by the Golden Triangle Regiment (2) operating in Kani, Yinmabin and other areas.
  • In Tantsi Township, the junta army entered Padi village at about 3:00 pm Saturday. Reportedly, they started to set fire to public’s houses for no apparent reason, starting from 3:20 pm.
  • In Kawkarait of Kayin State, the junta armed forces wildly shot mortars, starting from Friday night. Consequently, some shops in Kamaigone village were damaged.
  • Ethnic Armed Organizations
  • According to CDFs, the junta army strengthened their forces from Kalay to Phalan Hakha in recent days. Likewise, there was a convoy of over 90 military trucks from Mindat to Matupi.
  • In Matupi Township, there was fighting between the junta army and local CDF on Matupi-Mindat road. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and 3 others were injured.
  • In the south of Kawkarait Township in Kayin State, there was a short battle betweenthe KNLA and the junta army at about 6:00 am Saturday. After that, junta soldiers shot mortars, according to a local resident.

The Military Council

  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that under the guidance of the NUG and CRPH, there had been more than 4000 explosions all over the country. 1830 people had died and 11549 others had been arrested. Moreover, 3451 various weapons, 16679 bullets, 736 grenades and 7902 hand-made mines had been confiscated.
  • On Friday night, the junta ministry of health announced that 3 foreigners entering Myanmar had also been infected with the Omicron COVID-19 Variant, totaling 66 cases.
  • In the press conference on Friday, U Khin Mg Oo, a member of the junta election commission, said that there were lawsuits against over 400 people, including President U Win Myint and State Counsellor, for electoral fraud and lawless activities.
  • After USDP, pro-military political party, had a great loss, a state of emergency was declared together with the coup. According to the junta propaganda leader, it would be extended.
  • According to the military junta, 4409 students enrolled for universities, degree colleges and colleges, reopened on 6 January, throughout the country and 2281 students were currently attending classes.
  • As the 4th time in January, the junta Central Bank sold 10 million USD on Friday with an exchange rate of 1778 MMK per USD.
  • In Karenni State, the junta army conducted bomb attacks via fighter jets on a daily basis. In addition, junta soldiers on the ground carried out violent activities.   • On Friday, the junta propaganda leader said that they had to carry out activities to reduce crimes with the use of mobile SIM cards.

Summary on 15 January

  • In Karenni State, the junta army conducted air strikes, including civilian targets, day and night. Consequently, the townspeople from the state capital had to run away. At such time, the junta leader was too bare-faced to say the opposite.
  • In Chin State, the junta armed forces committed a mass murder, including a child and a journalist. Those dead bodies were found somewhere in the forest. For such genocides, the international community needs to take action as soon as possible.
  • The military junta sued 400 people unjustly with the accusation of electoral fraud. They have also arrested people anywhere, committed mass murders and sexual violence as well as human rights violations in warfare activities on a daily basis. It is necessary to put an end to such circumstances as soon as possible.
