The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to local sources, PDFs under the NUG also took part in the fighting in Laykaykaw Myothit starting from Wednesday morning.
  • Dr. Win Myat Aye, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Risks Management-NUG, confirmed that the NUG would take systematic measures to support the public who had lost their houses in the rehabilitation process.
  • At the time of invasion by the junta army in Laykaykaw Myothit of Kayin State, Ministers of the NUG called on the public to support those who were fighting back and those who had run away from the battles, instead of swearing at each other on social media.
  • According to Daw Thet Wai Kyaw, Sagaing Regional MP from Kalay, Salai Lian Luai, Chin State Chief Minister of the NLD Government, met with Pu Zoramthanga, Mizoram State Chief Minister of India, on Monday. Reportedly, they promised that they would help the IDPs from Myanmar.

Revolution Activities

  • In some townships of Sagaing Region with a great loss of the junta armed forces, military propaganda brochures were being spread out by the helicopter for the second time on Wednesday afternoon.
  • In Tantsi Township, 15 junta soldiers on patrol were attacked with mines by local PDF on Wednesday noon. Reportedly, three of them died on the spot and two others were seriously injured.
  • In Pale Township, there was a fighting for 20 minutes between the junta army and local PDF near Nganchaung Village at about 11:00 am Monday. Reportedly, a member of a local guerrilla force lost his life.
  • As a 280-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • As a 311-day protest, Kalay people marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning.
  • In Wetlet Township, the junta armed forces were attacked with 6 mines by local PDF near Sheinmaga Village at about 7:20 am Wednesday. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died and many others were seriously injured.
  • On Wednesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • At 7:00 pm Tuesday, Mandalay people marched against the military dictatorship, chanting ‘Who the hell are afraid?’
  • On Wednesday morning, the military junta announced that closed shops at Mandalay Zaycho Market were temporarily confiscated by the Mandalay City Development Committee, according to shop owners.
  • In Pha-Kant of Kachin State, a powerful rally marched for KIA, PDF, NUG and NUCC on Wednesday. They also expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • Special Advisory Committee on Myanmar announced with evidence that the military junta, which had been killing the public since the coup on 1st February, could be regarded as a terrorist organization.
  • In North Dagon Township of Yangon Region, some unknown people fired ammunition at the police station at about 9:15 pm Tuesday.
  • According to U Tun Kyi from AAPP, political prisoners, who were harshly beaten due to their participation in the silent strike in Insein Prison on 10th December, have not received medical treatment yet.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, there were explosions at a hostel in Ward (12) on Monday evening. According to Civil Guerrilla Force-HTY, their leaders and members were arrested by the military junta after the incident.
  • In Hleku, U Myo Oo, allegedly a pro-USDP man aged 50, was shot. After the incident, a carpenter, who was his neighbour, was arrested by the junta army, according to the townspeople.
  • In Sanpya Ward of Thingangyun Township, staff members of the electricity department cut off the powerlines to the houses that did not pay electricity bills, starting from 9:00 am Wednesday.
  • In Taninthayi Region, Dawei youth conducted an indoors night strike against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • According to Dawei Political Prisoners Network, a woman, who had joined the CDM and arrested in Myeik, was sentenced to 2 years in prison at the prison court with Section 505-A.
  • Reportedly, about 400 residents had to take refuge at near-by villages as the battle started in Laykaykaw Myothit in Myawaddy Township.
  • In Kutkhine Township of Shan North, Daw Win Win Myein, hospital administrator, was shot dead on Tuesday night.
  • In Nantkam, there was a bomb explosion in front of Pinlone Taittar Guest House near downtown area at about 6:15 pm Tuesday.
  • On Wednesday, Cambodian Prime Minister said that the Cambodian Foreign Minister would be appointed as special envoy to Myanmar by the ASEAN Chair.
  • In Taunggoke of Rakhine State, Ko Min Ko Oo, Chair of Taunggoke Youth Network, was arrested on suspicion of supporting PDFs financially.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Maila of Shan East, there was a meeting between the military junta and most members of FPNCC, which consists of 7 EAOs.
  • In Kokang area of Shan North, the junta fighter jets conducted bomb attacks on MNDAA camps 10 times on Tuesday. In addition, they also carried out invasion on land. According to the Kokang, there were 15 battles between them.
  • Starting from Tuesday, the junta armed forces entered Laykaykaw Myothit under the control of KNU Regiment (6). At about 11:15 am Wednesday, the battles got started. Reportedly, all local residents of near-by villages had to run away.
  • According to Mutraw Newsletter, KNLA conducted 7 attacks at the junta armed forces in Pha-Pun District on 11th and 12th December. Reportedly, 13 junta soldiers and a member of the junta BGF died, and 3 others were injured.
  • In Pekone Township of Shan South, the 51st anniversary of Kayen National Martyrs’ Day was celebrated at Kayen National Mausoleum in Sebu Village on Wednesday.

The Military Council

  • According to the junta media, the military junta organized a coordination meeting on supporting the public in need as the second step of the ASEAN humanitarian aid programme was about to get started.
  • The military junta announced that in Tantsi Township of Sagaing Region, the junta security forces were attacked with mines by PDFs, killing 2 soldiers and leaving some others injured.
  • In his tour at Meittila Solar Plant, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that it was necessary to compare local solar panels with foreign ones and make an effort for producing solar panels of high quality sufficiently in the country.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing instructed to grow Jade Tissue Banana plants in the area owned by the junta army yarn and garment factory in Maittala.
  • The junta Central Bank chose Bank of China - BOC (Hong Kong) Yangon Branch and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBO) as designated banks for Yuan-Kyat direct payment method in China-Myanmar border trade in cooperation with Myanmar’s Economic Bank.

Summary on 15th December

  • Due to the invasion of the junta armed forces, there was a battle in Laykaykaw Myothit under the control of KNU on Wednesday. Reportedly, junta soldiers were stuck in town and 6 of them died. As there might be fighting in the area anytime, thousands of local residents had to run away.
  • In Kachin, Chin, Kayah, Sagaing and Kokang, the junta army carried out invasive attacks. They did it openly in Kayin State. At such time, there was a discussion between the military junta and most members of FPNCC in Maila of Shan East.
  • In Sagaing Region with a great loss of the junta army, the military junta had to spread out propaganda brochures via helicopters. Such activities might suggest that the junta armed forces could not enter those areas by land.
