The Military Council

  • Director of the junta lottery department said that the financial accounts of those who play unofficial lottery in the country might be blocked.
  • According to director of the junta lottery department, the winner of their lottery would be able to withdraw a sum of 500 lakhs. For the rest, an account would have to be opened at Myanmar Economics Bank and withdrawals could be made in accordance with the instruction of Central Bank.
  • The military junta announced that the period of public holidays was extended from 16th to 22nd August. People are not to go out except for duty and funerals.
  • At a time of violent crackdowns and arrests by the junta armed forces, the junta media council called for writing the news in accordance with media ethics when hunting the news related to conflicts and protests. They then donated Press Helmets to Pathein communication department.
  • Regarding the situation of Myanmar, U Wunna Mg Lwin, minister of foreign affairs, and U Ko Ko Hlaing, minister of international cooperation, made explanations to the diplomats.
  • U Mg Mg Ohn, union minister of junta communications, said that they would help the artists who had been charged with Section (505-a) if those artists contact them as announced.
  • After the military junta announced that those who had joined the CDM and who had participated in protests against the military coup could contact them to close the lawsuits through respective police stations, 227 people did so. Among them, more than 150 cases were closed after inspection.
  • U Win Shein, union minister of junta finance, said that ministries need to be tight with their budgets except for mandatory tasks. He also instructed the staff to be thrifty in accordance with the guidance of the prime minister.
  • Like the signature petition campaign in support of the NUG, there was the one against the NUG by pro-military people. The accounts of signers for that petition can be seen being added regularly.

The National Unity Government

  • With the invitation from Myanmar’s Ally of the Australia Upper and Lower Parliament, representatives of Myanmar to Australia - NUG joined an online discussion on Myanmar’s affairs.
  • The NUG called for enhancing public victory with “Spring Lottery Raising the Flag of Victory” at a time of the downfall of the junta lottery department due to public’s boycott in unison.
  • U Tin Tun Naing, Union Minister of Planning, Finance and Investment - NUG, called on the public to play “Spring Lottery Raising the Flag of Victory” as a means of cooperation in the revolution, regardless of threats from the military junta.
  • The NUG has been taking action to effectively help the CDM staff with strong determination for the end of the military dictatorship and for the emergence of Federal Democracy in the country.
  • Under the guidance of Ministry of Health - NUG, there will be voluntary healthcare training led by CDM nurses and midwifes with international support to contribute to public health.
  • Pavel Fischer, Chair of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security Committee of the Czech Parliament, signed a request for official recognition of the NUG at the United Nations.

Revolution Activities

  • In Myaung Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces raided Kyigone village at about 10:30 pm on 10th August and arrested a villager named U Nyi Nyi Latt for no apparent reason. According to local residents, junta soldiers beat him and shot him dead, accusing him of running away.
  • On Saturday, Lightening & Thunder group issued a warning that junta administrators, clerks, taxation staff and junta informers in Sagaing Region are to stop their activities as soon as possible.
  • In Sagaing Region, a rally comprising various villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Saturday morning.
  • In Kani Township of Sagaing Region, junta soldiers raided Mutaw village on Saturday and beat a villager aged 40.
  • On Friday night, Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parittas for the public as usual and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • On Friday, a rally of Mandalay Force made a night strike against the military watchdog.
  • At about 8:00 pm Friday, U Myint, USDP member from A-Thuka Ward, was shot by unknown gunmen near B.E.P.S (24) in Seinban Ward while he was feeding dogs. Reportedly, he was injured with a gunshot near his head.
  • On Saturday, Mandalay Variety Forces marched against the military dictatorship.
  • On Saturday, a rally of Chan/Zi in Unity marched against the military dictatorship, chanting “Only NUG is our government. Support NUG”.
  • On Saturday afternoon, a rally of LGBTIQ in Mandalay avoided the junta armed forces and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Sagaing Region, Kalay residents marched up to Bogyoke road on Saturday morning and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • At about 11:30 pm Friday, the junta armed forces arrested a civilian at his house for no apparent reason in Taungdwingyi of Magwe Region.
  • At about 7:00 pm Friday, there was a bomb explosion at police housing in Taungdwingyi of Magwe Region.
  • In Pha-Kant of Kachin State, anti-junta residents of Ayemya Thaya Ward conducted a “From the People to the People” campaign on Saturday morning, selling each food item for 100 Kyats to the households in need.
  • At about 10:00 am Saturday, very loud noise of explosions was heard four times in Myitgyina of Kachin State.
  • In Pha-Kant Township of Kachin State, Lonekhine villagers marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday morning, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • At about 5:30 pm Friday, a 33-year-old woman named Daw Lan Myaw was shot dead by the junta army Ka-La-Ya (58) in Winemaw Township of Kachin State.
  • On Saturday morning, the junta army Ka-La-Ya (58) in Winemaw Township announced through loud speakers that residents of near-by villages are to stay in safe places if there is the firing of ammunition. Reportedly, the public were worried and ran away.
  • In Chin State, the junta armed forces have been controlling all entrances and exits of Paletwa Township for a long time. Consequently, emergency patients lack medical treatment outside of the area.
  • On Saturday morning, the junta army in three different troops invaded Kayenni area. Besides this, armed forces in Phekone Township started to fire mortars. Consequently, there was a battle between them and a combined force of KNDF, PDF and KNA.
  • The junta armed forces made an invasion in the east of Dimawso and Fruso. They also arrested 4 men on motorbikes at Dawthakale and Tiphokalo villages.
  • On Saturday morning, Dawei people made a protest, “Accept NUG, reject military”.
  • In Mingaladone Township of Yangon Region, there was a gunfire at Kyankhinesu Ward administration office at about 1:00 pm Saturday. Reportedly, two people were injured, including U Aung Maw, 10-household leader.
  • At about 11:30 am Saturday, there was an explosion near North Okkalapa roundabout.
  • In Chin State, the junta armed forces made an invasion near Mindat. Consequently, a battle broke out again with CDF Mindat on Friday. According to a spokesperson of CDF Mindat, there were nearly 4000 IDPs escaping within a day.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Thatone District, there were exchanges of fire between KNLA Regiment (1) and the junta armed forces Ka-Ma-Ya (208) near Melan village at about 5:30 am Friday. According to KNU, one junta soldier died and another one was injured.
  • In Kyaukme Township, there was a heavy fighting between RCSS/SSA and a combined force of PSLF/TNLA-SSPP/SSA near Kalagone the previous day.

Summary on 14th August 2021

  • In Sagaing and Mandalay regions, public protests had great momentum and so did their armed revolution. In Sagaing area with powerful armed revolution, the junta armed forces had been oppressing the public. In Chin, Kayar and Kayin states, there were battles caused by the invasion of the junta armed forces. Consequently, the number of IDPs increased.
  • In the area of KNU, an ethnic armed organization, there was a fighting due to the invasion of the junta army. In Kayar State, KNPP had been fighting together with a combined force of KNLP, KNPLF, KNPDP and KNSO.
  • Despite their efforts to gain international recognition, the military junta could not carry out the full operation of administration in the country. The banking sector and other financial services came to a stop as well.
  • As for the NUG, they had been trying to be an official government amidst acceptance of international community. As the government with public support, they had been putting efforts to verify by public lottery. The military junta had been threatening the public not to play that lottery.
