The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment announced that they would make buying Spring Lottery tickets easier for the public.
  • In an interview with the VOA, U Lwin Ko Latt, the NUG Minister of Home Affairs, said that they support the European Parliament’s condemnation of Serbia, Russia and China for exporting weapons to Myanmar.
  • The NUG announced that nearly 70 junta soldiers had died in the People’s Defensive War on Friday alone.
  • The Mandalay People's Defence Force called for the public’s participation in NUG fund-raising activities.

Revolution Activities

  • In Chanmya Thazi Township in Mandalay Region, a time bomb exploded in a parking space at the Starry Bar & Resturant, where the children of Military Council personnel tend to come to relax on Friday nights.
  • The Guerilla Force of Mandalay (GRA) announced that they would attack KTVs, bars, clubs and casinos connected to the military junta, starting from 9 March.
  • Somewhere in Mandalay, a rally of the Mandalay Strike group protested against the military dictatorship on Saturday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • On Friday, Pyi/Gun rally led by Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw conducted a night strike against the military dictatorship.
  • On Saturday, Myingyan District PDF announced a special warning to the shops selling Myanmar Beer, a pillar of the military junta, together with a list of their names.
  • On Saturday, the Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • On Saturday, Yangon youths conducted an anti-junta protest and put up banners cursing the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing on Insein Road.
  • In Shwepyitha Township, MO 7(Eagle) YUGA carried out a bomb attack on the junta army stationed in a social welfare office on Saturday morning.
  • The Yangon People’s Protest called for public participation in a Candle Strike and campaigns to curse the junta for power outages throughout the country starting from Saturday.
  • In Kawkarait Township of Karen State, five vehicles, including the Shwecin Setgya passenger express, were set on fire beyond Titaku Village on the Asia Road on Saturday morning.
  • On Saturday, Myawaddy PDF made an announcement calling for the suspension of the use of Asia Road-Myawaddy Kawkarait section.
  • In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a rally of local people in a village marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • On the 36th day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Monywa, local PDFs conducted an attack with 4 missiles on a warehouse of weapons of the Northwest Military Headquarters on Saturday morning.
  • In Letpadaung Taung Area, local people protested against the military dictatorship on Saturday while working on farms.
  • In Pale Township, the junta army raided Thabyay Aye Village at about 8:00 pm on Friday and set fire to people’s houses.
  • In Kalay Township, while junta soldiers were invading Tintha Village some stepped on mines set by local PDFs on Friday. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died.
  • In Wetlet Township, there was a heavy fighting between a local PDF and the junta army invading Taunggoke Village again. Reportedly, six junta soldiers died and no less than 17 others were injured.
  • In Taze Township, the junta army entered Samesa Village at about 1:00 pm on Saturday, and opened fire. According to the Taze Support Organization, junta soldiers burned two villagers to death, one of whom was an old woman of 70.
  • According to local PDFs, Lin Kant Kyaw, a comrade aged 19, lost his life in a battle against the junta armed forces in Yinmabin Township.
  • On Saturday, youths from the Monywa Township Basic Education Students’ Union marched against the military dictatorship, holding anti-junta signs.
  • On Saturday, a rally of Y.R.F youths hung an anti-junta banner at Kyaukka Road in Monywa.
  • In Yetashay Township in Bago Region, the Ahtet Najet Village administrator San Lin and 2 Pyu Saw Htee leaders were killed on Thursday.
  • In Pakkoku in Magwe Region, there was an explosion at the junta Myanmar’s Economic Bank on Friday morning. Reportedly, there were some casualties.
  • In Kanbauk Area of Taninthayi Region, there was a bomb explosion at a gambling event that was permitted by a junta-appointed village administrator on Friday.
  • In Longlone Township, youths and the Basic Education Student’s Union expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Saturday afternoon.
  • On Saturday, the Thaton Township PDF warned the public in Thaton District in Mon State to avoid going near to junta offices after 14 March.
  • In Shweku Township in Kachin State, a local PDF attacked a motorboat carrying 10 junta soldiers including an officer on Friday morning.
  • According to the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force - KNDF - Pekhon Zone, they caught two junta soldiers from Regiment (66) in the Mobye Battle on the Karenni-Shan border.
  • In Hpakant Township after more than 7 months of internet blackout, local people protested against the military dictatorship on Saturday, banging pots and pans. They also showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • In Pindaya in the Danu self-administered area of Shan South, there were frequent cases of junta informers being killed and bomb explosions. According to local people, the junta army strengthened their forces there.
  • On 3 March, the military junta arrested U Htay Lin Aung, the deputy administrator of Naungcho Township who had joined the CDM. Reportedly, he is in danger of dying because of the harsh treatment he received from the junta during his interrogation.
  • According to the UNHCR on Thursday, the number of IDPs all over the country has now reached more than 500,000 since the military coup. Reportedly, over 50,000 had to flee their homes in one week.
  • According to Justice for Myanmar, Telenor purchased Gateway phone spying system from a German company so that they could monitor phone calls and SMS messages. This amounts to the breaking EU sanctions on Myanmar so, JFM called on the governments of Germany and Norway to take action on this issue.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • On Saturday, Naing Aung Min, leader of the PPST, said that necessary preparations for the meeting with ASEAN Special Envoy will continue.
  • In Phalan Township in Chin State, the CNDF attacked the junta army camp in Ward (2) of Rikawda on Saturday morning. Reportedly, three junta soldiers died.
  • According to Karen sources, a combined force of the KNLA attacked the junta army in Metayulaw Village at 11:30 am on Friday. Reportedly, 14 junta soldiers died, 16 others were captured and 29 weapons including many explosives were confiscated.
  • In Myawaddy District in Karen State under the control of KNU 6th Brigade, there was heavy fighting between the junta army and a combined force of KNLA/KNDO/PDF on the Asia Highway starting from Saturday morning.
  • Pado Saw Daw Ni, a CEC member of the KNU, said that the NUG and KNU had been carrying out political and military activities under an understanding between them.
  • On Friday, there was an event to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of the MNDAA based in Shan North and in memory of their founder.

The Military Council

  • On Friday, Sai Kyaw Thu, deputy the director-general of the junta election commission, presented evidence in court regarding the charges of electoral fraud against the State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint.
  • According to Telegram, they removed the pro-military channels of Han Nyein Oo and Thazin Oo, which violated the company’s standards.
  • U Kyaw Zayya, Vice-Chair of the PPP political party founded by the junta-appointed social welfare minister Thet Thet Khine, wrote on social media that he had resigned from the party.
  • On Saturday in Nay Pyi Taw, the junta electricity office staff and junta soldiers cut off power to houses where the owners had not paid their electricity bills.
  • The military junta announced that there would be part-time power outages in some areas of the country from 12 to 18 March. According to some telecom operators, there might be phone and internet outages during that period.
  • From 10 to 12 March, the junta election commission surveyed the population so that they could make a list of eligible voters in Alone Township in Yangon Region.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Health, a national bio-secure laboratory will be completed in 2023.
  • According to the junta newspaper, diesel fuel, imported through the sale of dollars from the junta Central Bank, would be sold at special prices at 38 shops all over the country.

Summary on 14 March

  • Starting from Saturday morning, there was a heavy fighting between the junta army and a combined force of KNLA/KNDO/PDF on Asia Road in the area under KNU 6th Brigade. Reportedly, 5 cars were set on fire as well. After that, the road section was blocked off for vehicles. The road users are to take caution these days due to military tension there.
  • After the KNU told the junta armed forces to leave Laykaykaw Area and 6th Brigade Area, there might be heavy battles between them.
