The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The Acting President of the NUG said that they would like to join hands with ULA/AA (Rakhine National Organization) in the revolution against the military dictatorship.
  • U Yi Mon, Union Minister of Defence- NUG, sent a statement to completion of basic military training by Gantgaw PDF in Magwe Region on Thursday. Reportedly, he instructed them to fight against the enemy decisively.
  • On Saturday, the Department of Revenue- NUG announced that there would be sales representatives in other countries soon for their special bonds to raise funds for the revolution.
  • On Saturday, the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment- NUG announced that USD Tether (USDT) had been recognized for official use in the country.
  • The NUG announced that the public could contribute to Public’s Revolution Family, a program for monthly support to the heroes until the end of Spring Revolution with the slogan- ‘Let’s take steps to the victory’.
  • The NUG announced that they had blacklisted and dismissed 70 staff members from the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism, who had been conducting a variety of oppression on the CDM staff.
  • Ministry of Labour- NUG has been arranging for establishing a committee on Myanmar Migrants as well as identifying difficulties faced by Myanmar workers in Malaysia and supporting them.
  • Reportedly, responsible personnel from the Ministry of Labour- NUG met with Myanmar workers in South Korea to find out their difficulties and support them.

Revolution Activities

  • In Shwebo Township of Sagaing Region, the junta Pyusawti group led by Htay Aung shot dead Mg Yarzar Min Tun and Mg Moe Kaung, two young people on a motorbike, on their way back home in Myinsi Village at about 8:00 pm Saturday, accusing them of not stopping their motorbike.
  • In Kani Township, junta soldiers and Pyusawti members invading the area were confronted with 6 miles by KLG PDF near Chanthasu Village at about 10:30 am Sunday. Reportedly, about 20 junta soldiers might die.
  • In Latbadaung Area of Salingyi Township, the rural community expressed their desire against the military dictatorship on Sunday, holding signs- ‘Our blood will never cool down.
  • As a 277-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday morning.
  • In a village in Shwebo Township, there was a protest against the military dictatorship on Sunday morning.
  • At about 5:00 am Sunday, a truck carrying rations for the junta armed forces was attacked with 3 variety mines by Monywa Ranger Group/Truth Army in Monywa Township.
  • In Mandalay, the junta army shot at 4 young people on motorbikes on Saturday night. Reportedly, two young people died in the incident.
  • On Sunday, a combined rally of Mandalay Monks’ Union, Myataung, Engineers, Chan/Zi in Unity and Cooperative University Students marched against the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • On Sunday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township, Soe Nyein, administrator of Za Ward, was shot dead at about 7:30 am Sunday while he was eating Shan noodles.
  • In Chanmya Thazi Township, the junta army shot dead a nurse named Ma Chan Mya Nyein and her husband in front of a 300-bedded hospital at about 7:00 am Sunday, saying that they did not stop their motorbike.
  • On Sunday afternoon, the junta army, stationing in the Maternal and Child Welfare Office on Thaitpan Road, was attacked with grenades by a combined force of 3 local PDFs.
  • In North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, B.E.H.S (1) Students’ Union hung a banner in front of their school on Sunday, ‘Who dare live on the opposite side of the public?’
  • In Tightgyi Township, a bomb exploded at about 7:15 am Sunday, killing a junta soldier. According to local residents, other junta soldiers did not dare to come out and they just hid behind sandbags.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, there was gunfire at some places, where the junta armed forces had been stationing, on Saturday night.
  • In Kawhmu Township, U Kyaw Soe, junta-appointed administrator of Natyedwin Village, was shot by junta soldiers on patrol. Reportedly, he was in critical condition.
  • Reportedly, Ma Hmu Yadanar Kat Mo Mo Tun, MPA journalist who got injured by a military truck in Kyimyindine protest on 5th December, is getting better.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, 3 houses in Sawphya Village were set on fire at about 2:00 pm Saturday.
  • In Longlone Township, the junta armed forces destroyed houses in Lower Yebyu Village Group and arrested local residents.
  • In recent days, a monk and 11 people from Kanyungyung and Gaw-In villages in Longlone Township were unjustly arrested by the junta armed forces.
  • In Mindat of Chin State, the junta army shot dead a woman standing in front of Myat San Oo tea-shop at about 9:00 am Sunday.
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, there were battles between the junta armed forces and local PDFs on Saturday. Reportedly, both sides lost their members.
  • In Myaing Township, local PDF burnt hydro equipment sending water to the junta army in Industry (2) compound of Kaitawma Village at about 11:00 am Saturday.
  • In Thayet District, local PDF conducted a bomb explosion close to the junta inspection gate in the south of the town at about 4:40 am Sunday.
  • In Pha-Kant of Kachin State, a junta-appointed hundred-household leader was shot dead at about 9:00 am Sunday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Pruso of Kayah State, a combined force of KA and KNDF attacked the junta army regiment (428) and the town police station at about 8:38 pm Saturday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and no less than 5 others were injured.
  • ULA/AA Central Committee sent a congratulatory statement to the Acting President of the NUG and his wife on the 40th or ruby anniversary of their marriage on Sunday.

The Military Council

  • The military junta rejected the news that a nurse and her husband had been shot dead by junta soldiers. They also announced that it had been done by two gunmen on a motorbike.
  • At the opening ceremony of ‘Towards Ethnic Festival’, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that activities would be carried out for direct discussion with EAOs, peacekeeping with the EAOs which signed the NCA and bilateral agreements on reducing battles with the EAOs which had not signed the NCA yet.
  • Khin Yi, the junta minister of population and immigration, said that arrangements were being made for voting in the junta election with a national identification card.
  • According to the junta media, the military junta signed the agreement with the companies which had won tender in the tenure of the NLD Government for construction of urban fibre network in Yangon Region.
  • The junta newspaper said again on Sunday that the public did not dare to go out on silent strike day as they had been threatened.
  • According to the junta newspaper, two people from Hlaingthaya Township and Shwepyitha Township were sentenced to a lifetime in prison at the junta army court, with the accusation of contacting and donating the NUG.

Summary on 13th December

  • As for AA, they had a political shift in recent days. They released a warning concerning the operation of the junta army to gain influence in the area. After that, the junta army retreated, saying that they had been there for renovating the road up to the pagoda. AA then sent best wishes on the 40th anniversary of Acting President- NUG and his first lady. The Acting President responded that they would like to join hands with AA in the fight against the military dictatorship. Such contact between AA and the NUG might become a hardship for the military junta.
  • The silent strike by the general public had been a hard blow for the military junta. The junta newspaper kept claiming falsely that people did not dare to go out as they had been threatened.
  • As for Yangon, Sagaing, Mandalay and Magwe, they had great momentum in the revolution. There were also public protests in those areas. After PDF conducted attacks at the junta army camp in Pulaw, the junta armed forces committed war crimes constantly by burning villages and arresting villagers in Dawei Area.
