Yangon Region

  • According to some local residents of South Dagon Township, a couple from Ward (54), owners of U Kyargyi tea-shop, were shot at about 6:00 am Wednesday.
  • In honor of 71st Kayin Martyrs’ Day on Thursday, North Okkala youth conducted an anti-junta movement.
  • In commemoration of Kayin Martyrs’ Day amidst the rain, there was a march against the military dictatorship in Yankin Township.
  • In Bodataung Township, the junta armed forces raided an apartment in Ward (6) on 44 street on Tuesday. Regarding such incident, there were differences between the announcement of the military junta and the news of local medias.
  • At about 7:00 am Thursday, an audio file was played through a sound box - “Don’t feel down, comrades!” near exclusive hall of Insein Prison on lower Mingaladone Township. After that, there were two bomb explosions near the sound box.
  • In honor of Kayin Martyrs’ Day on Thursday, B.E.H.S (2) Insein Students’ Union (Ba-Ka-Tha Central) hung a banner - “Get rid of ethnocentrism. There are more than 9 martyrs”. They then made a guerrilla protest, raising the Kayin Flag and the Ba-Ka-Tha Fighting Peacock flag.

Mandalay Region

  • On Wednesday, a rally led by Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw prayed for 6 heroes who sacrificed their lives in Yangon. They then conducted a night strike against the military dictatorship.
  • In Myingyan, some gunmen opened fire in Ward (4) at about 7:00 am Thursday. In the incident, an 8-month-old baby was hit with a bullet and died. Reportedly, two other people were injured.
  • On Thursday, Mandalay Monks’ Union made an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • On Thursday, a rally of Chan/Zi in unity marched against the military watchdog, chanting “Only NUG is the public’s government. Support NUG”.
  • On Thursday afternoon, a rally of various religions with hundreds of protesters marched up to 35 road, one of the main roads, and expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship as well as for supporting NUG.
  • In Seinban area, Maha Aungmye rally led a protest against the military dictatorship on Thursday. They also showed their support for NUG.

Sagaing Region

  • In Yinmabin Township, a convoy of military trucks coming back from Pale Township was attacked with mines at the divergent point of Phowin mountain at about 2:00 pm Thursday. According to the source from Alaungdaw Katthapa area, many junta soldiers were injured and lost their lives. The exact number is still unknown.
  • On Thursday, Kalay people marched to Bogyoke road and made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship in front of Myoma market.
  • In Ayadaw Township, students and youth from Taunglat area expressed their desire for the end of the military dictatorship on Kayin Martyrs’ Day, chanting “Get rid of ethnocentrism. There are more than 9 martyrs”.
  • On Thursday, People’s Army for Defense (PAFD) was established with anti-junta revolutionists and pro-democracy people.
  • In Tantsi Township, a rally of youth, in cooperation with farmers from a village, made a farming strike against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning.
  • On International Youth Day and Kayin Martyrs’ Day, a rally of Monywa General Strike marched on the public’s road and protested against the military dictatorship, chanting “As long as the junta rules over the country, youth will remain rebels”.

Taninthayi Region

  • In Longlone Township, youth from Basic Education Students’ Union marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning. They also showed their support for NUG.
  • In Thayetchaung Township, students and youth from a village made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning. They also called for supporting NUG.
  • In lower area of Longlone Township, young residents conducted a night strike against the military dictatorship on Wednesday, holding burning torches.
  • In Yebyu Township, the youth led a protest on Wednesday night, showing their support for NUG.
  • In Longlone Township, Dawei District General Strike Committee and young people marched against the military dictatorship on the evening of 71st Kayin Martyrs’ Day. They also called for official recognition for NUG.

Kayin State

  • In Paigyone Township of Pha-Ang District, KNU organized a ceremony for 71st Kayin Martyrs’ Day on Thursday morning.
  • Chair of KNU said that the politics had been retreating in Myanmar since the military coup on 1st February. There were still ruthless killings and ill-treatment of the public, even in urban areas.

Kachin State

  • In Pha-Kant Township, residents of Lonekhine village expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Thursday morning.

Kayar State

  • Along Dimawso-Fruso road, there were a large number of armed forces. According to KNDF, those junta soldiers had been shooting mortars towards Fruso since 11:00 am.
  • KNDF announced on Thursday that the junta armed forces and their helpers as well as people and organizations in cooperation with the military junta would be regarded as their enemies. They would fight against such people and organizations till the end.
  • In Loikaw, the junta armed forces made inspections in Dawuku Ward on Wednesday night and arrested three young people, according to PKPF.

Mon State

  • On Thursday morning, Mawlamyein youth and students carried out an indoors strike against the military dictatorship. They also expressed their desire for the NUG.

Bago Region

  • In the western side of Bago Region, junta soldiers made the passers-by get off motorbikes and bicycles at the COVID-19 test-booth near Thabyegone village. They also cursed the people who refused to do so.
  • In commemoration of 71st Kayin Martyrs’ Day in Taungoo, Township Students’ Union and Technological High School Students’ Union protested against the military dictatorship, chanting “Get rid of ethnocentrism. There are more than 9 martyrs”.

Ayeyarwady Region

  • According to local residents of Kangyidaunt Township, the junta armed forces came to Begayet, native village of Kayin martyr Saw Ba Oo Gyi, on Thursday morning and prohibited the ceremony of 71st Kayin Martyrs’ Day.

Summary on 12th August

  • Despite arrests in Yangon due to information leakages, revolution activities still had great momentum.
  • Even amidst violent crackdowns on protests in Mandalay, various rallies marched against the military dictatorship. Their revolution activities were resumed as well.
  • In Sagaing Region, public protests gained momentum and so did armed revolution.
  • As the junta armed forces had been conducting invasions in Kayar and Kayin states, there were battles again. Consequently, the number of IDPs might be on the rise.
