The Military Council

  • At the Greater Mekong Sub-Regional Summit, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that there was a significant electoral fraud in the general election. Therefore, he had to seize power. It had been more than 7 months since he took on the responsibilities of the country.
  • According to the junta media, U Ko Ko, the junta minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs, and other responsible personnel inspected maintenance and renovation activities of the pagodas, stupas and ancient religious buildings in Bagan Cultural Zone on Wednesday.
  • According to the junta newspaper, a Raffle Ticket seller was arrested together with drugs in Yangon. The junta media falsely claimed that Ko Si Thu Maung, NLD MP, was involved behind the scenes.
  • The second day of 53rd ASEAN Economics Ministers’ Meeting continued through video conferencing. According to the junta media, U Aung Naing Oo, the junta minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, joined it.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the military council provided COVID-19 vaccination to family members of KNU/KNLA (PC) and made national identification cards for them.
  • The military junta invited Myanmar-based diplomats and held a press conference at Yangon MRTV.
  • The military junta announced that those who provided shelter or temporary stay to revolutionists were to report a short bio of their guests together with the overnight guest list. Otherwise, their houses would be confiscated.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In honor of Sayardaw U Ottama; Rakhine hero, National hero, so-called the sun of Asia, guiding star for national and regional freedom, the NUG sent a statement the previous day.
  • In the statement to 82nd Sayardaw U Ottama Day, the NUG said that colonization was the common barrier against freedom and equality of the nations. Likewise, all forms of dictatorship, including military dictatorship, were the main barriers against establishing federal democracy.
  • Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG made an announcement calling on staff of the Ministry to join the CDM and stand with the public in the resistance war for the freedom of all people.
  • Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration called on the staff to bravely stand up for the public in the current situation. They would be regarded as public’s enemies in the revolution if they continued to work for the military junta and commit crimes against the public. In addition, legal action would be taken against them after the revolution.

Revolution Activities

  • In Sanchaung Township of Yangon Region, a grenade was thrown at a military truck on patrol near the junction of Baho road and Bagara road. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died.
  • In North Dagon Township, the junta armed forces with 30 military trucks raided the house of an NLD supporter on Aung Thuka street in Ward (28) on Thursday night. They arrested him with the accusation of finding hand-made bombs and illegal drugs.
  • On Friday, Yangon youth protested against the military dictatorship, with signs calling on all the people to take part in the resistance war.
  • On Friday, the junta armed forces tightened security measures all across Yangon. According to local residents, they made illegal inspections and destroyed shops.
  • London-based Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) announced the previous day that Ko Kyaw Min, a man protecting the rights of forests and democracy activist, was arrested by the junta armed forces in Myanmar.
  • On Thursday evening, the junta armed forces raided Thalin and Myintar villages on Gantgaw-Kalay road on the border of Magwe Region and Sagaing Region. According to local residents, they killed no less than 20 villagers, accusing them of being PDF members.
  • On Friday, Kalay people marched against the military watchdog.
  • In Latpantaung group of Salingyi, local residents of Tawgyaung village protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Myaing Township, Basic Education General Strike Committee, in cooperation with the public from south west zone, expressed their desire against the military watchdog on Friday.
  • On Thursday, women led a night protest against the military dictatorship in Kyaybintu village of Salingyi Township.
  • In Phaunggata village of Salingyi North, there was a Eugenia strike for the victory of PDFs on Friday.
  • In Shwebo Township, local residents expressed their objection to the military watchdog on Friday, “Only NUG is the public’s government”.
  • In Pale Township, a MyTel telecom tower was destroyed by an explosion on Tuesday night as an anti-junta movement.
  • At about 11:00 am Friday, the junta armed forces entered the villages on the island at the confluence of Ayeyarwaddy river and Chindwin river. According to local residents, nearly 6000 villagers from a total of 6 villages had to run away.
  • In Mandalay, a rally of multi-religions marched against the military watchdog on Friday.
  • On Thursday, Pyi/Gun rally, led by Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw, conducted a night strike against the military dictatorship.
  • On Thursday night, Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parrittas for the public as usual and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • On Friday, a large number of the junta armed forces went around Mandalay. Reportedly, they made searches even in the wards.
  • In Thabaitkyin Township, TBK PDF destroyed a MyTel telecom tower with hand-made mines between Thabaitkyin and Lemai village at about 6:30 pm Thursday.
  • On Friday, a rally led by Mandalay Monks’ Union marched against the military watchdog.
  • Mandalay Regional Headquarters of People’s Defence Army announced that there were up to 64 clashes with the junta armed forces after the NUG declared a state of emergency with the announcement (1/2021).
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, a combined force of Baitthanoe PDF and Fight For Justice Yesagyo (FFJ-YSO) conducted a bomb attack at Yesagyo police station in Ward (4) at about 9:00 pm Thursday.
  • According to Kyaukhtu PDF, a convoy of 4 military trucks was attacked with mines somewhere in Pontaung Ponnya area at about 9:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, no less than 15 junta soldiers died in the incident.
  • According to Dawei People Defence Alliance, 6 junta soldiers died and 3 others were injured in the battle in Taungpyaut area of Thayetchaung Township on Tuesday.
  • KNDF announced the previous day that the junta army near Nangphe village shot a mortar in Bawlake Township of Kayar (Karenni) State. It fell and exploded in a farm. Consequently, a woman, who was harvesting sesame, died and 4 other people were injured.
  • In Theinni of Shan North, local PDF called on the people not to go out at night if possible from 11th to 15th September and the days after 18th September.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • At about 4:00 am Thursday, a combined force of KNDO and KNLA attacked and took over a base camp of the junta army in Kabawdu area under the influence of KNU.
  • At about 7:00 am Friday, the junta army Ka-La-Ya (19) shot mortars in Pha-Pun Township. According to local residents, the roof of a house in Ward (1) was damaged.

Summary on 10th September

  • The military junta had the chance to attend every meeting of ASEAN held in recent days. Depending on that association, they had been trying to develop economics and gain recognition in the international community. At present, the country had no source of income and thus, they had been putting efforts in to earn foreign currency from the agriculture and livestock sector. In the financial market, Myanmar’s currency continued to devalue and 1 US$ was equal to over 2000 MMK.
  • In Yangon and Mandalay, the junta army had a great loss due to members of urban guerrilla forces. Therefore, they conducted patrols around the cities with tight security measures. Amidst such circumstances, various rallies in Mandalay protested against the military dictatorship within the time available. In Sagaing, the junta armed forces conducted violence against the public as they had a great loss because of the armed revolution. Consequently, thousands of local residents had to run away from home.
  • In other states and regions, the people fought against the junta armed forces with any weapons available. In Chin, Kayar, Kayin, Kachin and Shan North, there were confrontations between the junta armed forces and EAOs together with local PDFs.
