The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Thursday, the Acting President of the NUG released a statement calling for cooperation with the international community, including the UN and INGOs, to provide Myanmar people with healthcare and humanitarian assistance.
  • At the meeting of the interim public’s administration on Wednesday, the Union Prime Minister called for strong administration in the areas under the influence of the NUG.
  • In an interview with RFA, Daw Zin Mar Aung, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that the NUG kept financial records of their spending and made them ready for audit.
  • Reportedly, the Spring University has been calling for applications for two diploma courses on Federalism and Peace, and Human Rights.

Revolution Activities

  • In Minkin Township in Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces set fire to 170 houses in Moattha Village and over 100 houses in Mauttet Village on Wednesday and Thursday. Reportedly, they also arrested four local residents.
  • On Thursday afternoon, a convoy of four military trucks was attacked with four variety mines on the way to Ye-U to Khin-U.
  • In Minkin Township, local PDFs conducted an attack on the junta army stationed in Maukkadaw Village on Thursday. Reportedly, a junta soldier and a Pyusawti member died.
  • On Wednesday, the Naga PDF released a warning against military junta propaganda about the NUG, CRPH and PDF in Naga self-administered area in Sagaing Region.
  • In Myinmu, local guerrilla force shot dead Thein Htay Win, a Pyusawti leader, with 7 bullets on Wednesday evening.
  • In Myaung Township and Minkin Township, there were battles between the junta army and local PDFs on Wednesday. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died and many weapons were confiscated.
  • In Tantsi Township, a combined force of PDFs attacked Kantoma police station on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, 40 members of the junta armed forces might have died in the incident.
  • In Kawlin Township, the junta army raided Phale Village on Tuesday. According to the local PDF, 5 members lost lives and another one was seriously injured.
  • On Wednesday, a PDF donated food and clothes to local people from three villages in Pale Township that had been burnt down by the junta armed forces.
  • In a village in Dibeyin Township, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • On Thursday morning, a rally of Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of villages marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Kani Township, Chindwin Nagar PDF successfully tested and made shotguns.
  • According to a confidential fax to the police, the military junta instructed that mines be set around their police camps in areas where PDFs are powerful, including Sagaing Region.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township of Yangon Region, a combined force of four urban guerrillas conducted an attack with 12 remote mines at the accommodation of junta informers and Pyusawti members at about 8:00 pm Wednesday.
  • On Tuesday, the junta army raided two weapon-storage locations of an urban guerrilla force in Yangon. According to Yangon-based Free Tiger Ranger, a leader was arrested together with weapons.
  • In the Amapura Township of Mandalay Region, a grenade was thrown at the security gate of Yadanarbone University at about 10:00 am Thursday.
  • In Patheingyi Township, a convoy of military cars, along with their officers, was attacked with mines on Wednesday afternoon.
  • In Maha Aungmye Township, the junta army arrested two protest leaders and two freelance journalists on Wednesday night.
  • On Thursday, the military junta sealed off Maha social welfare office, accusing them of being involved with political affairs.
  • On Wednesday, Nay Pyi Taw PDF led a night strike against the military dictatorship, in memory of Ma Mya Thwet Thwet Khine, who was killed by the junta security forces last year.
  • In Kyonebyaw Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, there was a bomb explosion between houses of two Non-CDM teachers at about 8:00 pm Wednesday.
  • In Hinthada, a female PDF conducted a mine attack at the house of an officer from the junta air force on Thursday morning.
  • In Pathein, a local PDF threw a grenade at Thinbawgyin police station in Ward (9) on Wednesday morning.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, basic education students’ union conducted a dawn protest against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • At about 3:00 pm Wednesday, Urban Guerrillas of Pindaya (UGP) made a bomb explosion in the compound of electricity office, which forced the public to pay electricity bills in Shan South.
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, the junta army shot mortars at Myale village on Thursday morning. Reportedly, an IDP got injured and a church was damaged.
  • In Loikaw Township, a combined force of the KNDF attacked a secret camp of the junta army at about 7:30 am Wednesday. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Dimawso Township, the KNDF cleared away 14 mines, set by the junta armed forces, on streets.
  • In Magwe Township of Magwe Region, Hla Wai, allegedly an informer for the junta, was shot dead in Kyarkan village at about 7:00 pm Wednesday.
  • In Kyauktu Area of Saw Township, there were casualties among junta soldiers in battles on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • In Yesagyo Township, a combined force of local PDFs released a warning to junta staff to join the CDM as soon as possible.
  • In Chin State, the junta army wildly shot mortars near (9) mile area on Monday. Consequently, a Grade 7 student was hit with a piece of mortar shrapnel and died.
  • On Thursday, People’s Soldiers announced that they had been producing weapons for PDFs and LDFs.
  • The UK government warned companies not to supply aviation fuel to the military junta in Myanmar.
  • According to 2021 Global Democracy Index by Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Myanmar stood at 166 in the worst position.
  • Human Rights Watch-HRW called on Japan-based Yokogawa Bridge Service to stop their cooperation with MEC, a junta army business.
  • Reportedly, actor Min Maw Kun, who has been bravely protesting against the military coup, resigned from the Rose performance team.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In a statement for the 74th Kayin National Day which is on Friday, the Chair of the KNU said that successive governments in Myanmar lack political will and political fairness.
  • In Duplaya District under the control of KNU Regiment (6), there were still battles between the KNLA and the junta army in Laykaykaw and Kawkarait. Consequently, IDPs could not return home.
  • In Special Area (1) of Shan North, there were battles between the junta armed forces and MNDAA on Tuesday. According to local residents, the military junta used helicopters for their attacks.
  • In Yatsaut Township of Shan South, there was fighting between the SSPP and the RCSS on Tuesday. According to the SSPP, they arrested RCSS members and confiscated weapons.
  • In Maungdaw Township in Rakhine State, a military car was attacked with mines by the AA on Monday. Reportedly, 11 junta soldiers, including an officer, died in the incident.
  • In the area under the influence of the KIO, IDP camps are facing food shortages.

The Military Council

  • In the meeting with the Magwe community on Wednesday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing urged irrigation via solar power in the region. He also visited Baitthano ancient city and instructed school lessons about cultural heritage.
  • In Chinese CGTN media, the junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that the military junta would not send any representatives to the ASEAN Foreign Ministeries Meeting in February.
  • According to Singapore-based CAN media, INTERPOL declined the request of the military junta to arrest those against the military coup, including leaders of the NUG.
  • On Wednesday night, the junta ministry of health announced that over 1000 COVID-19 cases had been found just in a day.
  • The military junta instructed union-level personnel and state/regional chief ministers to wear traditional costumes without fail at the Union Day ceremony.
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, over 10 NLD MPs have had their political pension withdrawn by the military junta.

Summary on 10 February

  • In recent days, battles resumed between the junta army and the AA in Maungdaw Township of northern Rakhine, causing a great loss for the military junta. Reportedly, there would be a meeting on the current situation after Union Day. According to political analysts, battles could break out again extensively if they did not get along in the discussion.
  • In the first week of February, there were heavy battles between the junta armed forces and a combined force of KIA+PDFs in Kachin State. With a great loss there, the military junta used airstrikes in their attacks. If the junta armed forces conduct more military operations, there might be more battles in the area.
  • As for most EAOs, they would not attend peace talks by the military junta on Union Day. Consequently, it might be an unsuccessful event. As for anti-junta movements, they might still be in great momentum after Union Day.
