The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In honor of the 13th anniversary of Arakan Army (AA) on Sunday, the NUG sent a statement with best wishes for their success as well as for the achievement of the political aspirations of the AA and Rakhine people.
  • On the 22nd Kayan National Day on Sunday, the NUG wished health of body and peace of mind to all Kayan ethnic people living in the country and abroad.
  • According to the NUG’s PVTV there were many casualties among junta soldiers in fighting at Laykaykaw New Town in Karen State on Sunday. Reportedly, a junta army captain was also captured alive.
  • A Yangon Regional PDF representative said that they would start a new urban offensive called the Nan Htike Aung Operation and called for public participation in the offensive.
  • Revolution Activities
  • In Thonekwa in Yangon Region, 3 a bomb exploded during preparations for a Thingyan dance rehearsal. Reportedly, junta soldiers and administration personnel were angry about the incident.
  • At crowded places in Yangon, youths conducted a ‘No Thingyan’ movement and expressed their objection to the water festival organized by the military junta.
  • In North Okkalapa Township, a combined rally of students’ unions and Octopus Youth conducted a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship.
  • Starting from 9 April, there have been too many cars on the Yangon-Pathein Road. Reportedly, they all have to pay tolls to the junta armed forces to be allowed to pass.
  • According to airport sources, there are cases of CDM staff being arrested at Yangon International Airport as they try to leave to go abroad.
  • On the 427th day of protest, Kalay people marched amid tight junta security measures and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship, on Sunday.
  • In Khin-U Township in Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces were attacked three times with mines on 8 and 10 April. Reportedly, seven junta soldiers, including a captain, died and another one was injured.
  • On the 396th day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Ayadaw Township, local people protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday and showed their respect for Shein Wai Phyo, the very first comrade to be killed by the junta armed forces last year.
  • At crowded places in Kalay, youths conducted an anti-junta campaign on Sunday morning, calling on the public not to take part in the water festival organized by the military junta.
  • In Taze Township, junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members on patrol were attacked with mines by local PDFs at about 8:00 pm Saturday. Reportedly, five of them might have died.
  • In Salingyi Township, committee members of Latbadaung Taung General Strike hung a banner calling on the public to participate in the revolutionary Thingyan at the Nyaungbingyi Crossroads.
  • In Butalin Township, an alliance of local PDFs attacked the junta’s Kutaw Police Station at about 10:00 pm on Friday. Reportedly, no less than 20 members of the junta armed forces died.
  • On Sunday, the Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas for the safety of the public.
  • In front of Nay Pyi Taw City Pandal (Thingyan stage), the junta police, surrounded by sand bags, have been on watch duty.
  • In Longlone Township in Taninthayi Region, youths marched against the military dictatorship, holding signs calling for a revolutionary Thingyan.
  • In Dawei District, 12 people, including a local journalist, were arrested within a week.
  • In South Korea, there was a ceremony to hand over financial support worth of 40 lakh MMK for Myanmar’s Spring Revolution. In the opening speech, Degu Sayardaw called for peaceful contributions to the success of the revolution.
  • On Sunday morning, there was an anti-junta movement in front of the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok of Thailand for issuing a threatening statement to Myanmar people in Thailand.
  • In Thatone Township in Mon State, a bag of rice and a bucket of oil were left for U Zin Mg Mg, township administration officer. Reportedly, the gift was a bomb that exploded. It injured two policemen and caused an office building to collapse.
  • In Pathein in Ayeyarwady Region, Ko Aung Thet Paing, a final year law student, was sentenced to two years in prison on Friday.
  • In Kyankhin Township, U Soe Myint, a regional MP, was arrested by the junta army on Saturday morning.
  • In Ywangan Township in Shan South, an alliance of UG conducted an attack on the junta army near Hlwasin Village.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In a statement issued for the 13th anniversary of Arakan Army (AA), the MNDAA and TNLA stated that they would continue their political and military cooperation until they reached their destination.
  • In a statement for the 13th anniversary of the AA, the Students’ Army from the Yangon-based University Students’ Unions stated that their comrades attended basic military training in an AA liberated area and that the students’ army was established with their support.
  • According to PRA Magwe, AA supported also supported their group.
  • On the 22nd Kayan National Day, Dimawso, Mobye and Pekone PDFs sent a statement.
  • Starting from 2:30 am Sunday, there was heavy fighting between the junta armed forces and a combined force of the KNLA. Reportedly, two members of the revolutionary forces lost their lives and four others were injured.
  • In Fruso Township in Karenni State, there was a battle between the junta armed forces and the Karenni Force at 8:00 am on Sunday. Reportedly, 10 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.

The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that the Mandalay-Lashio-Muse Union Road would be upgraded to international standards.
  • The military junta announced that there would be a scheduled change for Cherry ships running from Pansodan to Dala during the Thingyan holidays.
  • In Theinni in Shan North, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that the great history of the country could be revealed by maintaining historical and religious buildings in their original condition.
  • In his meeting with the local community in Lashio on Saturday, the junta leader said that upon completion of Shan State hydro-power projects there would be sufficient electricity available in the area.
  • According to the junta Economics and Commerce Ministry, there were discussions among representatives from Myanmar and India with regard to Transit Trade and the use of coastal ships.
  • In Namsam Township in Shan North, a TNLA controlled area, four soldiers from the junta army managed to desert on 4 April.

Summary on 11 April

  • On Sunday, the 13th anniversary of the Arakan Army’s foundation, the AA was celebrated. Reportedly, many organizations, including the NUG and PDFs, sent statements to the AA. Despite saying that they were only interested in Rakhine State affairs the AA has supplied military training and weapons to local PDFs.
  • In spite of sending many troops to control Sagaing and Magwe regions, the junta armed forces had to relinquish one area after another where local PDFs were powerful enough to take control of the junta camps.
  • In Laykaykaw, there was heavy fighting due to an invasion by the junta army on Sunday morning. According to videos, there were many casualties among junta soldiers and an officer was caught alive.
  • Despite their military coup, the military junta, led by Min Aung Hlaing cannot rule anywhere in the country. It seems as if they were planning to destroy the country on purpose. Such destructive acts can be clearly seen in their activities like their new banking policies.
