The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that it was necessary to be able to produce vaccines, including COVID-19 ones, in the country.
  • After inspecting the farms of Yangon Regional Military Headquarters (Danyingone) on Friday morning, the junta leader said that it was required to fulfill other needs of soldiers as much as possible, in addition to their rights.
  • Pwint San, the junta minister of Economics and Commerce, said that there was a very deep relationship between ASEAN and India in terms of economics, culture and trade, and that India was the largest trade partner, not only for ASEAN, but also for Myanmar.
  • Tin Oo, the junta minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, said that it was necessary to cooperate between private sector and the department of crops protection to establish exclusive zones for beans of export potential to be free from residues of restricted chemicals.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the public are not to play fireworks in the upcoming Thadingyut and Tasaungdine periods.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The public have been taking part in People’s Defensive War. According to the NUG, there were attacks on 18 military targets of the enemy, 7 administration targets and 4 business targets on Friday.
  • At the meeting of Economics and Finance in 76th UN General Assembly, U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, said that the illegitimate military coup had negative impacts on political, economic and social sectors.
  • U Kyaw Moe Tun also said that at the time of other countries striving for Sustainable Development Goals 2030, Myanmar people would have to be back to square one due to terrible consequences of the unsuccessful military coup and inhumane activities of the junta.

Revolution Activities

  • According to local sources, a combined force of MSPDF, 27 Revolution Forces, Bad Guys with Good Hearts and Talote PDF attacked Kyaukyit police camp in Myaung Township of Sagaing Region at about 5:00 am Saturday.
  • At about 7:15 am Saturday, there was a fighting between a combined force of PDF Saw and a troop contingent of about 100 junta soldiers near the rest-house in the north of Kuchaung village.
  • At about 12:50 pm Saturday, a combined force of PDF South Monywa and Monywa Nightking conducted an explosion at the round-about in Monywa industrial zone. Reportedly, a military truck was damaged.
  • In Monywa Township, Zaw Sai, allegedly an informer to the junta in Gyaymone village, was shot dead on the road by Monywa Heroes Group.
  • In Wetlet Township, a MyTel telecom tower, owned by the military junta, was blown up in the east of Ywanan village at about 2:00 am Saturday.
  • In Kalay, a rally of women led a protest against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • On Saturday morning, the townspeople went around Kalay and marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • On Saturday, a combined rally of women from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Tigyaint Township, the junta army raided and set fire to the houses belonging to the mother and sister of local MP U Mg Mg on Wednesday and Thursday. According to local residents, they also took away food items and other belongings.
  • In Zawphyar village of Thayetchaung Township, two armed leaders of Pyusawti inspected houses at about 8:00 am Saturday. As they could not find a villager named Ko Nippun, they arrested his wife and two young children.
  • In Longlone Township, there was a protest against the military dictatorship in a village on Saturday morning.
  • In Taungoo Township of Bago Region, there was a bomb attack on a military truck on Kan street at about 10:00 pm Friday.
  • In Oatgyin Township, an urban guerrilla force threw 2 grenades at the junta inspection camp (146) on Yangon-Mandalay highway at about 4:20 am Saturday. Reportedly, some junta soldiers were injured.
  • In Ohnbin village of Oatgyin Township, 3 grenades were thrown into a house of an informer to the junta at about 7:00 pm Friday.
  • In Tandabin Township, the junta army arrested over 50 people working to collect gold residues at about 10:00 am Saturday, with their hands tied behind their back.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, U Myint Aye, USDP member and administrator of Wetpote village, and his wife were shot by Myaing PDF at about 11:00 am Friday as they were on their way back from picking ground-nuts. Reportedly, U Myint Aye died and his wife was injured.
  • In Pakkoku Township, local people marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday morning.
  • In Mandalay, a rally of a variety forces protested against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • On Saturday, a rally of Mandalay women marched against the military dictatorship.
  • On Friday, Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted a night strike against the military dictatorship, holding signs - “Truth lovers will help you in the fight against injustice”.
  • On Saturday morning, there were posters for CDM/PDF and against the military dictatorship in Yangon.
  • In Dawbone Township, there was an explosion near the shipyard at about 12:00 pm Saturday.
  • In Kayan Township, a large number of administrators resigned from their position. According to local source, 44 administrators have done so until Friday night.
  • On Thursday, Young Revolutionary Force – YRF warned administrators in South Dagon Township to resign and junta informers to stop their activities.
  • In Yangon, a combined force of students’ unions from various townships donated food and COVID-19 preventive items to grassroots-level people on Saturday, under the theme - “Fight together, help each other”.
  • Amidst tight security measures in Yangon, youth marched against the military dictatorship in South Dagon Myothit Township on Saturday.
  • On Friday, N.D.G warned the junta administrators in North Dagon Township to resign from their position.
  • According to Karenni People’s Embrace, a policeman joined them together with a G3 rifle.
  • CDF Tantalang announced that they would kill junta soldiers anywhere if they still keep stealing and destroying property of the townspeople.
  • In Pha-Ang Township of Kayin State, 4 family members died of lack of oxygen in a bomb shelter on Saturday.
  • In Kamamaung of Pha-Pun Township, Than Aung, junta-appointed administrator of Ward (3), was shot dead by two unknown gunmen at about 8:25 am Saturday.
  • In Indawgyi area of Kachin State, two junta fighter jets dropped 3 bombs near Mainaung village at about 11:30 am Saturday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In the area under control of the Karenni Army, an event was held upon completion of their basic military training Batch (71) on Saturday.
  • On Saturday, Saw Bi Htoo, Chief Military Officer of KA, said that at present, they would not have any meetings or discussions with the military junta.
  • In Dimawso Township of Kayar (Karenni State), two men came back to Sanpya (6) mile village to take rations. According to KNDF, they were arrested and one of them was shot dead by the junta army. KNDF managed to rescue the other one.
  • In Kawkarait Township of Kayin State, the junta army (556) stationed in an animal farm of KNLA Regiment (6) on Saturday morning. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers were injured by mines and died.
  • KIA communication officer said that KIA had nothing to do with the weapons confiscated near Denko fuel-oil shop in Amarapura Township of Mandalay Region on 5th October.
  • In Shan North, there were battles between the junta armed forces and MNDAA in Monekoe and on Lasho-Theinni road on Saturday morning.

Summary on 9th October

  • As China has closed border trade camps, the military junta said that they would do trade with India. Even at normal times, there used to be just a little trade with that country. Even if such trade was implemented, they would not be able to earn enough foreign currency for the whole country. This situation might become a headache for the junta leaders.
  • In terms of military affairs, a large number of armed forces were sent to regain control of Chin, Sagaing and Kachin. Assumingly, the military junta began to use two thirds of their armed forces.
  • In Sagaing Region, the junta administration collapsed due to powerful PDFs. The same is true for Yesagyo Township in Magwe Region. In Yangon, administrators in Kayan Township resigned from their position. In South and North Dagon townships, local PDFs warned the administrators to do so.
  • As for Mandalay and Yangon, they had guerrilla protests. In Magwe, Sagaing, Bago and Dawei, there were anti-junta movements. In Thayetchaung Township, members of Pyusawti armed group conducted unlawful activities against the public on a daily basis.
