Spring Revolution Daily News for 1 October 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • According to Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG, their responsible personnel on the ground have been providing freshly-produced crops for the food security of the internally displaced people. 
  • In a meeting of the United Nations on 28 September, Myanmar’s Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun claimed that the situation in Myanmar is not just a home affair but that it has impacts on other countries in the region. 
  • The Ministry of Labour-NUG announced that they had solved an issue in which the employer of a construction site had not paid Myanmar migrant workers in a timely manner. 
  • The Acting President of the NUG stated that there has been a People’s Defensive War since the military coup and the revolution forces have been able to threaten the junta’s headquarters Naypyidaw in terms of military operations. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Chaung-U Township of Sagaing Region, a fleet of the junta’s vessels have been opening fire towards local villages along the river-bank. Reportedly, local people have had to run away. 
  • On Mandalay-Myitkyina Railroad, there was a mine attack on a train carrying junta soldiers and non-CDM staff. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties. 
  • In Dibeyin Township, the junta troops have been invading local villages. Consequently, over 10,000 people from 14 villages have had to run away amidst the rain. 
  • On Saturday, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Monywa Township, there was an attack via mortars on the junta army stationing at Swam Yi Htet Gas Station on Monywa-Mandalay Road. 
  • In Pulaw Township of Tanintharyi Region, 12 junta soldiers including an officer died in battles in Pitup and Latku village tracts whereas 10 PDF members lost their lives. Reportedly, the junta soldiers killed 5 civilians and set fire to about 30 houses. 
  • In Gantgaw Township of Magwe Region, there were two battles. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties among junta soldiers. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • In Mindat Township of Chin State, the junta army fired heavy artillery, leaving a child and a woman injured. 
  • In Nyaunglebin Township of Bago Region, there was a battle between the junta army and a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army + PDF near Bazunmyaung Village. Reportedly, both sides lost their members. 
  • In Pekone of Southern Shan State, a police sergeant robbed of a construction material shop. Reportedly, he took away a million MMK. 
  • According to Karenni Nationalties Defence Force Regiment (5) on Saturday, Karele (alias) Kyetpha lost his life in a battle in Fruso. 
  • In Kachin State, there was a battle between Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the junta army on the Myitkyina-Bamaw Road on Friday. 

The Military Council 

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing stated that when applying federalism, it must be region-based, not ethnic-based. 
  • According to the junta Central Bank, it is just a rumour that 50-MMK and 100-MMK bank notes were no longer legitimate. 
  • The junta Central Bank claimed that they would identify and take serious action against those spreading the false news related to 50-MMK and 100-MMK bank notes. 
  • The junta leader repeated that they have been systematically doing to lower the high cost of living and they would soon support the government employees. 
  • The junta leader claimed that national prosperity and food security are two national objectives and the public must be able to live in peace and comfort. 
  • According to a junta newspaper, Myanmar expressed objection to the film ‘No More Bets’ produced in China as it defamed the image of Myanmar. 

Summary on 1 October 

  • Instead of admitting his poor management, the junta leader told the non-CDM staff that they had been trying for the low cost of living and they would provide support to the staff. 
  • The counter attacks of the revolution forces have been powerful. Consequently, there might be heavier battles throughout the country.
