Sixteen junta soldiers killed in Chin State’s Matupi

Sixteen junta soldiers were killed in fighting between Chinland Defence Force Matupi (CDF-Matupi) and junta troops near Chanpyan Village on the Matupi-Mindat Road, In Chin Sate’s Matupi Township, according to (CDF-Matupi) reports.

Fighting broke out at 7:25 a.m. on 31 March and the junta troops withdrew from the area at 7:45am. At 9:10 a.m. the junta troops launched an offensive on the area and the fighting intensified. No casualties were reported.

In an earlier incident about 80 junta soldiers had travelled from the Infantry Battalion (304) Matupi base to meet a junta convoy that was coming from Kyaukhtu Township to Matupi Township with reinforcements. Unfortunately for them some stepped on landmines planted by the CDF at the intersection of the Matupi-Mindat Road, at about 1 pm on 30 March. According to a CDF-Matupi statement there may have been unconfirmed casualties.

According to the latest reports, reinforcements have been sent to the junta's battalion based in Matupi.
