Resistance group attacks police station in Sagaing’s Salingyi Township

A resistance group recently attacked Salingyi Township police station with heavy weapons, witnesses say.

The Unity Force Monywa said they attacked the police station in Salingyi township, Sagaing Region with eight mortars and sixty 60-milimeter grenades at 9:15 p.m. on 31 March.

Long-range artillery was fired and hit the police station and the place where Myanmar junta troops used to lie in ambush, according to local people.

"The city police station in Salingyi Township was damaged,” Bo Auk Swe from the Unity Force Monywa told Mizzima. “We keep fighting against the junta troops as much as we can.”

Bo Auk Swe said it was important that donors support their war effort.

Unity Force Monywa operates in collaboration with the Brother Defense Force and eight other groups.

These resistance groups or People’s Defence Forces have been active in the conflict-hit Sagaing Region.

The day before the police station attack, an Irrigation Office in Thanlar Ward, Monywa Township was hit.
