Resistance forces use drone to bomb Myanmar junta air base in Bago

A Myanmar resistance group used a drone to drop two bombs on the junta air force base in Bago’s Taungoo Township at 11.00 am on 1 December, a spokesperson for the Northern Thandaung Special Region told Mizzima.

"The attack involved a single unmanned vehicle (drone) that released two destructive bombs. The explosion occurred in the vicinity of the aircraft hangar where planes are stored. We will release the video footage of the attack," said Ko Mawgyi, the spokesperson.

The coordinated attack was conducted by the Northern Thandaung Special Region and Iron Tiger Battalion, with preparations for the attack reportedly taking about a month.

Ko Mawgyi said: "I would like to add that the Taungoo Air Force Base Headquarters consistently offers air support to Military Council forces. Through this attack, I want to caution them against engaging in further acts of terrorism and urge them to collaborate with the people."

He said the reason behind this attack was to demonstrate solidarity with Operation 1027 in Northern Shan State. Ko Mawgyi clarified that the action also aimed to support Operation 1111 currently underway in Karenni State.

According to the monitoring records conducted by the revolutionary forces in their respective areas, the Air Force Base primarily engages in conducting airstrikes in battle zones, encompassing Karenni and Karen States, as well as the Bago Region.
