Residents in Demoso flee due to heavy shelling

A spokesman for the People's Defence Forces-Demoso township (DMO-PDF) told Mizzima that at least 10 artillery shells were fired in Demoso township, Kayah (Karenni) State on November 2, forcing residents to flee.

Residents of villages in Demoso township have been fleeing since October 26. But about 150 plucked up the courage to return to their homes. The returnees are from five villages with around 1,000 households. Due to the health of the children, most of the farmers who had to harvest paddy in the fields returned to the village, locals said.

The Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) announced that The Karenni Army (KA) and the Karenni National Defence Force (KNDF) clashed with the Tatmadaw stationed at Htu Lwei Belar ward on Tuesday evening, November 1, killing eight troops.

From February 1 to October 31, after the military coup, there were 99 clashes in Kayah (Karenni) State, killing 399 members of the Tatmadaw. 30 troops of KNDF/KA were killed and 99 civilians, according to The Progressive Karenni People's Force
