Security has been tightened after a bomb was reportedly thrown into the compound of a high-security district police station on Merchant Road, Pathein, Ayeyarwady Region in the evening on July 24.

Two men on a motorcycle threw bomb onto the roof of the district police station at around 6 pm, but it fell off the roof into the compound. It is said not to have exploded.

"The bomb was thrown last night (June 24). They intended to throw on the roof. The package did not reach the roof and it also did not explode. So, the police have kept the information under wraps." said a district police official.

There have reportedly been eight explosions of homemade bombs in Pathein since the military coup.
