Over 90 junta soldiers killed in KNU Brigade 5 area of Karen State in August

Over 90 junta soldiers were killed in 118 clashes in the Hpapun area of Karen State controlled by Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 5 in the month of August, 

According to the KNU over 90 junta personnel were killed and at least 50 more were injured. Most of the casualties were members of Border Guard Force (BGF) militias controlled by the Military Council rather than regular Tatmadaw (Myanmar Army) soldiers.

The KNU also said that during August one soldier from the KNU’s armed wing, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) was killed in Hpapun District. One civilian was killed and 24 houses were destroyed in three airstrikes on the district during August.

There is daily fighting between Military Council Troops supported by BGFs and the KNU/KNLA in. Karen State.
