NLD executive member arrested at his house in Yangon’s Kawhmu Township

An NLD executive member who had an arrest warrant issued against him by the military junta was arrested at his house in Aphauk village, in Yangon’s Kawhmu Township on 28 February, according to locals.

The man, Lay Ko Ko, was previously the Kahmu Township Information Officer and he served on the township executive committee representing the National League for Democracy (NLD).

He had been on the run since the arrest warrant was issued. Lay Ko Ko had only recently returned home and was arrested as he was leaving his house, according to another resident of Kawhmu Township who added that he was arrested because an informant had told the junta of his whereabouts.
