NLD Central Working Committee formed

The National League for Democracy (NLD) has announced the formation of a new seven-member Central Working Committee on November 5.

The committee consists of U Aung Kyi Nyunt and U Tin Htut Oo, current members of the Central Executive Committee; Dr Khin Saung, a reserve member of the Central Executive Committee and U Tun Myint, U Kyaw Htwe, U Myo Naing and U Win Aung, members of the Steering Committee.

The Steering Committee was formed in January 30 2021. The NLD announced in the statement that Central Working Committee was formed with the consent of all those who attended the State and regional officials' meeting that was held on October 30.

U Aung Kyi Nyunt, U Tun Myint and U Myo Naing from the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Representative Committee (CRPH) were involved but no member of the Women's Committee was involved in Central Working Committee.

The NLD has announced that Central Working Committee has been formed to implement the principles of the NLD and the provisions of the 2020 Election Declaration, to connect and carry out party activities and to facilitate relationships inter-party both locally and abroad with all the members of the Central Executive Committee, including the chairman of the NLD, as they cannot convene a plenary meeting currently.

Fourteen central executive members, including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the current chairperson of the NLD and State counselor, vice-chairperson of NLD and President U Win Myint, have been detained by the military council since the coup on 1 February.
