Due to the fighting in Monywa township, Sagaing Region, nineteen junta troops have been killed within four days, according to the South Monywa People’s Defence Force or PDF.

On the morning of January 25, a hand grenade was thrown into the bunker of the MyTel office in Monywa township. Two junta soldiers died while they were being taken to a hospital. Troops fired random shots in response.

The reason behind the attack is that junta troops stormed Le Zin village in Monywa township on the evening of January 27. So, local guerrillas threw two grenades at the Mohnyin Government Technical College, where junta troops are stationed.

Similarly, on the morning of January 28, three bombs exploded on the Chaung-U Monywa road, the Monywa-Mandalay highway, killing 17 junta troops and injuring many more, according to an official from South Monywa PDF.

On January 29, a hand grenade was reportedly thrown at a bunker of the Monywa District Administration Office.

"In our four days of fighting, 19 junta troops were killed and several others were injured,” said an official from the South Monywa PDF. “We want the people to cooperate with us in accordance with the requests on our page. We promise that we will fight until the revolution is successful.”

The People's Defense Force South Monywa is a local defense force in Monywa, which is attacking junta troops, and main supporters of junta.

The PDF also announced that during military operations, if the vehicles on Monywa-Mandalay highway are found to be driving without open car windows, they will assume the vehicles belong to the junta or Pyu Saw Htee members, and they will attack the vehicles.
