The Myanmar Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) confirmed yesterday that they have recorded 42 new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total to 628 cases over a six month period. However, as of Saturday morning, the international COVID-19 counter registered further cases to put the total at 643.

As of Friday morning, the MOHS has 628 confirmed cases, 6 deaths, 349 recoveries and 339 discharged.

One of new confirmed cases is from Thingangyun Township, Yangon with no travel history. The man had a COVID 19 test after feeling sick with symptoms.

The authorities report that a curfew from 9pm to 4am will be imposed in the townships of Rakhine where COVID-19 confirmed cases have been reported. Sittwe township has been under the curfew since last week.

One confirmed patient found from Thursday’s tests is a police officer who was attending training in Mandalay. The training school is now closed and people who have had contact with him will be tested for COVID-19.

155 stranded Myanmar nationals from Japan arrived on Thursday with a relief flight arranged by ANA airline.
