Myanmar Now’s multimedia reporter Kay Zun Nway is among the 700-plus people released from Insein Prison on Wednesday, according to a family member.

Myanmar Now, who released the news, says she was arrested on February 27 while covering a protest and had been charged with incitement. She spent 124 days in detention.

Kay Zun Nway was one of many journalists who have been arrested over the last five months, since the 1 February military coup.

Those still in jail include reporters and personnel from Mizzima and DVB. In addition, Frontier’s editor Danny Fenster remains in Insein Prison awaiting trial.

The Myanmar junta has sought to block independent media from reporting in the country, removing licenses and making arrests.
