Myanmar militia claims attack on security post in Magway

Three Myanmar junta soldiers were wounded in a bomb attack carried out by a local militia group in Magway Township in central Myanmar on 10 September.

The People’s Revolutionary Association (PRA) confirmed they conducted the attack to a security post near Myathalwun pagoda around 4:30 pm, according to their information team.

The PRA has warned of serious fighting against the junta troops and its affiliates in line with the guidance for people’s revolution recently announced by the National Unity Government (NUG) or shadow civilian administration.

People have been advised to keep away from military facilities, convoys and posts for their safety.

The PRA carried out many explosions and attacks, including the use of 107-mm rockets on Magway airbase recently, targeting the military facilities.

Since July, fighting between the junta’s army and some local self-defense groups broke out in north-western Magway Region.

During recent fighting near Gangaw Township in Magway Region, about 15 residents, including teenagers, from local armed resistance group, were killed, according to local news reports.

Recently anti-junta groups urged the international community to take serious action, saying the lack of any meaningful outside intervention has led to armed revolution across the country.

Following the junta’s bloody crackdown on anti-coup protesters in March this year, many local People Defense Forces were formed across Myanmar to launch armed revolution. Thousands of young people have gone to border areas to receive military training from ethnic armed organizations (EAOs).
