A Military Council convoy departing from Naypyidaw was attacked by the joint resistance forces near 169th Mile 4 Furlong Highway Milestone on 7 July, according to a source from Bago Region People’s Defense Force.

According to the initial information received by Mizzima, the military convoy was the convoy of the Quartermaster General. And the defense force was reported to have launched a mine attack with four mines.

“There were five vehicles in the convoy. The convoy was reported to be Quartermaster General’s convoy. We are still investigating to confirm about it as well as who was included in it and the follow-up situation,” an official of Eastern Bago Region of Taungoo District People’s Defense Force Battalion 3501 told Mizzima.

The anti-junta resistance forces sent a scout vehicle and followed the convoy, and then three other cars of the resistance forces launched the mine attack. When the military convoy troops counterattacked, the defense force fired back at the convoy and then retreated.

The resistance forces’ vehicles, that launched the mine attack, were reported to be only six feet away from the military convoy.

The destruction of the military troops by the attack is said to be still under investigation.

The attack was reported to have been carried out by a special team of Taungoo District People’s Defense Force Battalion 3501, the “Small Kill Team.”

The members and weapons of the People’s Defense Forces that carried out the attack were reported to be safe.
