Myanmar junta forces conducted brutal attacks in a village in Sagaing Region around 5 a.m. on 1 October, according to news just out.

About 200 soldiers raided Pyindaung village in Khin-U Township, where the people’s defence forces were allegedly obtaining military training.

Three middle-aged men and a five-year-old girl were killed, and a man and a woman injured in the attack, while a house was burnt down and some belongings from four families were looted.

“Junta forces raided the village from the east and west sides before dawn. We could not take anything in fleeing from home. While the villagers were running out of the village in fear, they shot at the people killing four persons including a child. It was a terrible incident, and even babies and elderly persons were in a state of panic,” said a witness.

Soldiers left the village in the afternoon, and threatened to conduct the raid again until they could find the suspects they wanted.

They also took containers of diesel and gasoline, two motorbikes, money and rice bags from houses on their way to Pyindaung village.

Sagaing Region has seen numerous clashes and attacks by junta forces over the last few months, in the wake of the 1 February military coup.
