Myanmar junta convoy attacked on Mandalay-Mattara Road

Local residents said a military convoy driving on the Mandalay-Madara Road, from the west of Bogone village in Madara Township to Mandalay, was blown up at around 2 pm on January 17.

"As a lot of ambulances went there, many soldiers were injured. There may be deaths. People living in the area said the blast was strong,” said a local resident in Madara.

Mizzima could not independently confirm that the attack was carried out by the People's Defense Force (PDF - Madara) in Madara Township.

On January 4, a military convoy driving from Sint Kue township was hit by mines by the PDF (Madara) between Patlelinn village and Pehlawpho village on the Mandalay-Mogok Road, killing several junta troops.

The Myanmar Army has recently set fire to village houses and arrested and killed local residents in Madara township, Pyin Oo Lwin district, Mandalay region.
