First four cases of Omicron variant in Myanmar were confirmed by the Ministry of Health under the control of the junta regime on December 28.

According to the ministry's release, SARS-CoV-2 variant Omicron was found in four samples of returnees from Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after a total of 30 laboratory samples of returnees were performed on December 28 with Omicron Real Time PCR Testing and Genomic Sequencing Testing.

In addition, 26 people were found to have SARS-CoV-2 variant Delta.

All four infected people are in good health. Only one of the four infected people showed common symptoms and the others did not show any symptoms and thus they were allowed to leave the treatment centre after completing the treatment deadline period, according to the statement.
