Myanmar authorities seize 474.6 tons of illegal timber

Myanmar authorities seized 474.6 tons of illegal timbers across Myanmar in a week, according to a release from the Forest Department under the country's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Thursday, Xinhua reported.

The seizures were made in the country's regions, states and the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6.

The seized illegal timbers included 70.9 tons of teak, 114.3 tons of hardwood and 289.3 tons of other types of timbers, the release said.
