More than 700 refugees from Mong Kung township unable to return home

As fighting broke out in Mong Kung township, Southern Shan State, more than 700 local refugees have not been able to return to their homes, according to locals.

There are more than 160 refugees stay in the Wein Nginn Monastery, more than 280 in Pankayku village and more than 260 in Kone Sone Monastery in Mong Kung township.

Clashes have been taking place between the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS/SSA) and the Shan State Progress Party (SSPP) since September 14, and local residents fled. The residents said until now, military tensions between the RCSS and the SSPP remain high in Mong Kung township.
