The Madara People's Defence Force announced that nine military vehicles were attacked with a series of landmines on the Mandalay-Madara Road on the afternoon of January 18. The mines exploded violently, injuring several Myanmar Army soldiers.

After being bombed, an eight-year-old boy from Bogone village is known to have been shot and wounded in the neck when junta troops stormed Kyauktada and Bogone villages. The Mandalay-Madara Road was also closed for about an hour, according to a local resident.

"As the road was closed, all the people traveling were blocked. Junta troops opened fire on the nearby villages. It was very chaotic and noisy," he said.

In December, a military vehicle was bombed in the north of Madara township.
