Military troops arrest NLD member leading protests in Koke Kar village

A local resident told Mizzima that Phay Ko Tin, an NLD member and protest leader of Koke kar village in Gangaw Township, Magway Region, was arrested at his home by military troops.

Local residents said that Phay Tin, 42-year-old, was arrested by plain-clothes gunmen, including a uniformed military council soldier, in a white Van Car at his home in Koke kar village in the west of the Kale-Gangaw Road, at around 6 p.m. on June 24.

He said, “At around 6 pm, gunmen including a military officer came from Hanthawaddy village in a white Van. They look like Pyu Saw Htee in civilian clothes and armed. It is possible that Pyu Saw Htee was stationed at the Hanthawaddy camp by the military council. The detainee did not even have clothes. He was arrested after gunfire, but was not hit.”
