Military regime appoints new chief ministers to Yangon Region and Kayah (Karenni) State

The military regime has appointed new Chief Ministers for the Yangon region and Karenni State one year after the military coup.

Soe Thein, the deputy managing director of Myanmar Economic Holdings Limited (MEHL), a military-owned company, who was previously the Defence Ministry Auditor General replaced Hla Soe as Yangon Chief Minister.

Zaw Myo Tin, a Regional Operational Commander who was the Karenni State Minister for Security and Border Affairs replaced Khin Maung Oo (aka) Bu Reh as Karenni State Chief Minister. The appointment happened previously but was only officially acknowledged in a Junta order released on 31 January.
