Mahabandula Park, located in downtown Rangoon, which is crowded other days has been temporarily closed since the morning of December 7.

The park was closed under the instruction of the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) to control Covid-19 due to the large number of visitors, U Ko Ko Lin, head of department of the Playgrounds, Parks & Gardens, confirmed to Mizzima.

"It was closed under instruction of the YCDC committee. It was so crowded and with the aim of controlling Covid-19, we closed it. The committee will inform again how long it will last” said U Ko Ko Lin, head of department of the Playgrounds, Parks & Gardens.

Hluttaw members of the Kyauktada Township have been discussing the closure of Mahabandula Park for the past two months, but not closed the park because there were people who wanted to exercise for health.
