Six ministers, including Magway Region Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyo, have been charged under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law at their respective police stations, according to state media Magway region Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyo, Magway Region Hluttaw Speaker U Ta, Minister of Electricity and Energy U Myint Zaw, Minister of Social Affairs Dr Khin Maung Aye, Construction and Transport Minister Tin Nwe Oo and Yangon Region Cabinet Minister for Social Affairs Naing Lin were charged by the Military Council under the Anti-Corruption Law.

The military council said all of the people with cases against them were being held in various prisons and were being investigated under the Anti-Corruption Law.

Magway Region Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyo, Ministers Dr Khin Maung Aye and Tin Nwe Oo had chosen another company without considering the winning bidder for the construction of a government technical high school.

It was alleged that Magway Region Minister for Construction and Transport Tin Nwe Oo received a six million kyats bribe from the company inspecting the quality of the Magway Region Parliament building in August 2020,

The Military Council described in its statement that the state lost 2,497 million kyat due to corruption of Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyo, Magway Region Hluttaw Speaker U Ta, Minister of Electricity and Energy U Myint Zaw, Minister of Social Affairs Dr Khin Maung Aye, the Minister of Construction and  Transport Tin Nwe Oo.

The Military Council announced that Yangon Region Social Affairs Minister Naing Ngan Lin has been charged under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law in a respective police station for embezzling money from respective companies by abusing power while implementing the construction of government buildings.
