Local rebel leaders arrested in Yangon’s suburbs

Leaders and members of a group fighting against junta troops were arrested after an explosion at a dormitory in Hlaingtharyar Township, Yangon region, on 13 December.

A member of Civil Guerrilla Force-Hlaingtharyar said, “The list of our members leaked since the explosion occurred. A leader and an injured member were arrested after their motorbike was hit by a car. Their situation remains unknown. About 100 troops raided our hideout. We lost our safe house and some items.”

Some members and leaders of the group were killed, while 9 members were arrested, and two guns and mines were confiscated.
