The NGO LIFT have voiced dismay over the recent massacre in Kayah State in which over 30 civilians – including two Save the Children workers – lost their lives.

The following is the message from LIFT:

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that LIFT learns of the death of our partners' staff, among more than 30 lives lost in the most horrific circumstances in Kayah on 24 December. Their loss of life is a loss to us all. LIFT’s partners have been a continuous source of relief and providers of uninterrupted services to communities deeply affected by the unfolding complex crisis. LIFT, its team and donors send our sincerest condolences to the families of the colleagues whose lives have been taken - may they rest in peace.
