Leaders of Myanmar pro-military rally to be prosecuted under Disaster Management Law

The leaders of pro-military rally which was held on the morning of January 25 in Pathein Township of Ayeyarwady Division will be prosecuted under Section 25 of the Disaster Management Law, said Raza Aye, chairman of the COVID Committee in Pathein Township.

"A total of four persons will be prosecuted. Two leaders and two instigators will be prosecuted. We sat in a meeting and presented it to the government on the same day. The government held the meeting and decided to do it under the law," said Yar Za Aye, chairman of the COVID Committee in Pathein Township.

Win Shwe Oo, Hla Htay, Tin Nyein and Kyaw Hlaing Htwe were the two organizers and speakers, according to Pathein Township police records.

Leaders of the pro-military rally said they would hold this rally with 29 people, but were sued for doing so with more than 300 people at the time of the event, according to the Pathein Township COVID Committee's online page.

According to the Pathein Township COVID Committee, they did not abide by the instructions of COVID-19 and violations of the instructions were carried out in accordance with the law.
