KWHRO condemns murder of two innocent youths

On 24 April, The Kukie Women’s Human Rights Organization (KWHRO) condemned the shooting of two innocent youths from Teijang Village, in Sagaing Region’s Tamu Township.

“The KWHRO sends deep condolences to the families of GI. Sonminthang (age-24) and GI.

Thanggougin (Age-20). They died from gunshot wounds and their bodies were abandoned in the ravine between Thanan Village and Myo Thit Village on the afternoon of 23 April”, said a KWHRO statement.

On 23 April, they went to Tone Kyaw Village to play a football match. After the game, they went to Phine Lin Village and then their families lost contact with them. They were not heard from again before their bodies were found.

A KWHRO representative said: “The place where two victims’ bodies were found was near to a Pyu Saw Htee and Meithei (Kathe) Armed Group camp. Later we heard gunfire and victory celebrations from the camp, so we believe they were the perpetrators [of these murders].”

The KWHRO condemns the killing of innocent people by the Phu Saw Htee militia and the Meithei Armed Group.

The statement from KWHRO stated that the two victims were not related to any armed organisations and were just two ordinary civilians who just lived in the village and helped their
parents.
